SO you are trying to say all there people are lying .....people form all over the country ...I dont think so it should be stopped ASAP
  • Hi everyone, if you currently have or are thinking about getting a coupon from groupon then SEEK AN IMMEDIATE REFUND!!!

This company is an absolute JOKE. Here is a list of just SOME of the reasons why:

    1. YOU ARE NOT IN A DENTAL SURGERY. Their are no dentists, no dental nurses and no one with dental training supervising these event. Girls have been lied to and disgracefully mislead into taking the position of laser teeth whitening technicien. Upon interview you are told the only qualification you need is a beauty therapy NVQ lvl 2 qualification, not even the higher level of qualification. The interview is rather informal and shocked me when i turned up all suited and booted that no one even asked to see my certificates (which i had brought with me). Girls are given "intensive training". this takes about an hour and i was taught by a girl who had only been doing the treatment for about two months.

    2. Liability for the treatment not being done by fully qualified dentists/dental nurses lies with the company. These poor girls are lied too by the head office and left to deal with a lot of BS that really isn't their job. After being in the job for a month, i got told if a client asks to tell them i'm fully qualified to do the treatment. I never did. I was always honest and said id trained in beauty to level 3, done anatomy and physiology then dont training with pearl. I left it to the client to make their own mind up on that.

    3. PRODUCT SUPPLIES-this was a constant gripe in the office and i know it is for almost all the offices up and down the country. Our office would place an order two weeks in advance still not get anything when we needed it. This happened to the point of girls in the office having to use their own money to buy basic things such as rubber gloves and paper cups. None of which was reimbursed.

    4. YOU ARE IN A QUE- the only way to make a complaint is to call head office. On a number that will charge you a small fortune because they don't pick up unless they WANT to. The staff in head office are a mixture of lovely girls who just want to help, and surly ones who couldn't give a flip. Nine times out of ten you'll get a surly one who will only set to aggravate you further. As for staff, they did the same to us, answer when it's convenient, !!!!! about you in the background for complaining about THEIR bad practice or even worse, screen your calls and decline them until you ring from an unknown number...several times.

    5. STAFF DON'T GET PAYED ON TIME- we're talking weeks late, some of the staff have children, young families, and all have bills to pay for. The girls ARE young, but all are older than 18 and all are just trying to do the job to the best of their abilities. People need to take into consideration that the people at the top of this ladder are !!!!!!!! on the ones at the bottom from a great height so please, unless one of the girls is rude to you, take this into consideration.

    6. IT IS NOT A TOTALLY STERILE ENVIRONMENT. the offices are carpeted rooms, their are no sinks to rinse your mouth into, only steel bowls, god i could just go on.

    Any other questions just ask.

BUT SERIOUSLY. CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT.SEE A DENTIST. PAY EXTRA MONEY.

Many thanks to all the posts in this thread. I had an appointment booked in the Cardiff practice (I use practice loosely). Firstly PN cancelled my appointment as the practice wasn't open for business yet (it was new), and I could not make my re-arranged appointment.

Thank goodness I came accross this thread before I re-arranged again. Basically after reading all the posts, there was no way I was going to let Pearl National near my teeth!

I phoned Groupon on 020 3384 6646 and explained about the horror stories that I had read on here and I wanted a refund. The lady took all my details down and escalated the claim with her manager. The manager rang me back within 5 minutes and offered a full refund and told me that they have had lots of complaints about Pearl National.

Amazingly, the refund was done via paypal within minutes.
  • The same has happened to me, i purchased a voucher in Sept 11 for the Sheffield clinic, i called and booked straight away to be done on 8th Oct.
I received a random text message saying they had to cancel my appointment, due to supplier error not having the right product!!
I thought this was bizarre, so tried to rebook but cannot get through on the number they have given.
After finding this forum- thank goodness!!- and saw other people have the same happening to them, i called Groupon today.

The lady at Groupon was great, she issued an immediate refund and said they are aware of similar complaints about Pearl National and will investigate.
I have bought other things from Groupon and not had a problem.

As explained earlier it is illegal to supply non dentists with peroxide gels of greater than 0.1%. trading standards have cracked down on suppliers so that may explain some of pearls difficulties.

Your dentist is both trained and insured to carry out/prescribe/supervise bleaching.

Aside from the legal aspects of non-qualified people carrying out tooth whitening, do you really want to entrust your mouth to someone who knows barely more about teeth than you do, who cannot recognise underlying problems which may lead to tooth damage, who will not know whether or not bleaching can be effective, who cannot distinguish between or treat the numerous causes of darkened teeth, many of which will not respond to bleaching, who is uninsured, should something go wrong, and as has been pointed out, has no knowledge of or training in cross-infection control and no means of sterilising equipment?! Herpes is the least of your worries...try some of the hepatitis viruses which are easily and readily transmitted in blood and saliva. And since a non-qualified person is unlikely to recognise, let alone treat gum infection, can you be sure that the tray, or their hands/equipment do not contain the contents of anyone else's mouth?

    Your call!
  • I've always found that when the merchants let Groupon down Groupon are very quick at apologising and refunding the money - I guess even with the stringent due diligence Groupon now do they like us get ripped off from time to time.
  • If you have any probs getting a refund.. click onto groupon uk facebook page that seems to work to :)
  • Like so many posters above, I have had the same experience with Pearl National. Appointment cancelled via text the day before. etc. etc. etc.

Called Groupon directly on 020 351 00410 and after about 20 mins waiting on hold, spoke to a customer service rep, who quickly agreed to refund my credit card and sent a confirmation email.

I hope others have the same success.
