My wife and her friend bought vouchers for this in Dec 2010 and yesterday was the FOURTH time they have cancelled on the day. Yesterday's excuse was they did not have materials for job. Previous excuses include moving and not being able to let any one in!
I believe the Leeds branch used same excuse a few days ago to another customer. Paid with paypal so will involve them now.
My wife contacted Consumer Direct who were not impressed! Called Groupon, mentioned name of person at consumer direct, and have refund on way!!0 -
What these people are doing in offering tooth whitening is ,essentially , illegal. Before you book any whitening proceedure there are several questions you should be asking
• What types of tooth whitening are available
and what are the differences between them?
• What sort of results can I expect?
• What can you do about stained veneers, crowns or
dentures to make sure they match my natural teeth?
• What are the risks? Will it hurt?
• Who will be carrying out the procedure?
What training and experience do they have?
• Is the work guaranteed for a certain length of time?
• What aftercare do you provide and who can I contact
for advice after treatment?
• What happens if I am unhappy with the results?
Who will pay for any work that is done to correct any problems?
• Who can I contact for advice after treatment?
• What kind of insurance do you have?
if you are not happy with the answers then don't risk your dental or general health eg one whitening company were sued successfully as the chemicals they used made someones asthma worse PERMANENTLY.
If you have been harmed by someone whitening teeth or have had your teeth whitened illegally (ie by someone not a dentist , or a hygienist or therapist working to a dentists prescription) then contact the GDC who prosecute offenders .http://www.gdc-uk.org/Newsandpublications/Publications/Publications/GDC_Tooth_whitening_leaflet%20(2).pdf
When contacting groupon for a refund try mentioning that you didn't realise you had bought a voucher for a service that is being provided illegally.0 -

The reason for this maybe that trading standards are cracking down on suppliers of whitening products , ensuring they only supply to dentists and not to beauticians etc. So they may obviously have problems with legitimately obtaining whitening products.0 -
I had an appointment scheduled with Pearl National in their Trafalgar Square, London office today at 14.00. They cancelled the appointment at 12.30 via text and said they'd be in contact to rearrange my appointment.
I thought that strange and then after the briefest of searches found this thread.
Thanks to all who have shared their experiences in this thread. Is the general opinion that it's best to go straight to Groupon to request a refund or is it worth the hassle of attempting to reschedule my appointment? To be honest, I now have zero confidence in their ability to provide an adequate service.0 -
Iv had the same problem with a massage voucher I bought from Groupon, unsure what the company name is but will try and find out and repost.0

Hi, well I just got my teth whitened after buying a groupon voucher for Pearl Natonal Clinic in Manchester. They also cancelled me twice but I managed to get through and complained and they fitted me in last night. DO NOT GO. The building looks splendid and then you get upstairs and it is a bare room with a reclining chair and boxes of the bleaching agent piled up, the girl looks to be in her teens and she shoved some forms at me whilst tapping on her mobile, she then gave me a mouth guard which already had bite marks in it. I went through with part of the procedure which is damn painful and then left as my instincts were screaming get out of here. Basically they have bought a load of the teeth whitening stuff and a uv light and are passing themselves off as professionals. Its DIY. She had nothing sterile and nothing cam eout of a packet, my teeth do look fab even after one ten min session but i have a constant dull ache and cant let cold air hit my teeth. That is apparently normal but please do not use this company, they have got someone probably on minimum wage doing the procedure that you could do at home yourself.0

Recently had my teeth done through Pear National for £69 (groupon voucher) what a load of rubbish. They rented a small room in a building, not very professional. It all seemed rushed, in the end my teeth were patchy and my gums became very blistered and sore. I have tried contacting Pearl National and Groupon and had no reponse. Just be wary, I think you get what you pay for.
Hi has the pain subsided now as i had mine done yesterday and it is still painful0 -
Carena, what the company are doing is illegal. It is illegal for anyone other than a dentist to assess someone as suitable for whitening let alone do it. This is because whitening done on the wrong person or in the wrong way can cause permanent problems. This us without the risks that poor cross infection control can expose people to etc.
You can help protect other people by making a complaint and by finding out what questions you should have asked before read http://www.gdc-uk.org/Newsandpublications/Publications/Publications/GDC_Tooth_whitening_leaflet%20(2).pdf
If your teeth are still painful go and see your dentist, don't be embarrassed, unfortunately they will probably have seen plenty of people damaged by illegal whitening. They will be able to advise you how to control sensitivity or treat you if permanent damage has been done.0 -

They have advertised for staff in Liverpool asking for nvq level 2 beauticians and are paying £6 an hour. I think you can guess how much training in cross infection, CPR, tooth anatomy, oral and general medicine, and general dentistry these folks have done and make your own choices.0 -
I had an apointment in Leeds today at 12.00 for teeth whitening at Pearl National. Got there and 2 young girls come out and say they have not had delivery of the products and do not know when it is going to be delivered!! Spoke to their HO and they did not know either. E-mailed them now to complain and asked for my money back. They do say - you get what you pay for - stay clear! Have to say the staff were polite0
