Get photos of your gums,go see a dentist and make a complaint via the gdc (see link below). What these clinics are doing is illegal and the first successful prosecution has taken place. Stop more people being damaged.

Here is the link for anyone harmed by tooth whitening or anyone thinking of having it done

  • Wow, this is scary! I would definitely get a refund instead of going for this treatment! It sounds so dodgy! I hope you start feeling better soon, Nina! I've seen today that they've got a laser teeth whitening deal, but think I'll steer clear :( I'd rather pay a little bit extra and know I'm going to a reputable/trusted doctor.

The only professionals who can legally do this treatment are dentists or hygienists/dental therapists under the direction of a dentist. You may want to enquire exactly who is doing this potentially hazardous treatment and what chemicals they are putting into a very delicate part of your mouth. You may also want to check that they are operating from a surgery not a hotel room/ booth in a shopping centre/ beauty salon/ office etc
  • Hi all this is my first ever post on here but had to join just to share my experience! I will never use Groupon again! I bought a PN voucher through groupon and had to wait 7 weeks for only 1 appointment offered in leeds.I had to book the day off and get childcare for kids. however when I arrived in leeds no one was even there! I eventually got through to the no. and was told they had no products so had not sent any one! the place where they do the whitening is just rented office space that you can rent by the hour!! Very dodgy! Furious when i got home i emailed them and groupon for a refund but did not get a reply for 12 days! the reply says sorry but you are only entitled to a credit! After looking at the posts on here I will be phoning for a full refund asap. another waste of time and money on my part consideribg they have had my money for 3 months now! It is a total scam and I am sure they are hoping they mess people around so much they will forget about it! dO NOT USE PEARL NATIONAL! Thanks for your posts previous peeps.
  • Not very impressed reading this. Im booked in for 2 weeks time, What do I have to do to get my money back? I have given PN my groupon code so I am booked in.

    Thanks

Read this http://www.gdc-uk.org/Newsandpublications/Publications/Publications/GDC_Tooth_whitening_leaflet%20(2).pdf then ring up and ask the questions it suggests. As you won't get satisfactory answers get pearl to cancel your booking and email groupon asking for a refund as you have just found out you have booked a proceedure that is being carried out illegally and potentially putting your health at risk.

Hi all, as line manager of pearl national teeth whitening I can 100%gaurantee that this is not a scam, i'm sorry that some of you haven't been able to get through, our phone lines are extremely busy as we are one of the top teeth whitening companys in the UK, so do please keep trying! if you have no luck on getting through with the phones you can send your details to our email address and as soon as a member of staff is free they will contact you to make an appointment, that email address is info@pearlnational.com.

For those of you who have had sensitivity this is completely normal and should of subsided within 24/48 hours and you should of been told this in your consultation with your technition.

For those of you who are wanting it done here is a bit of information about the treatment:
It's a very simple treatment performed by a laser l.e.d light which opens the pores in your teeth to allow the peroxide to soak in faster and remove stains, you get three ten minute treatments under the lamp after the last one we remove everything out of your mouth and you can simply rinse your mouth out with water, in terms of senstivity most people will feel some sort of senstivity but this should only last for 24/48 hours as the peroxide soaks in to your teeth mixing with nerve endings, after 24 hours the peroxide deactivates so all sensations should go within 24/48 hours, people with sensitive teeth will probably feel it a lot more so i suggest that you take a pain killer before you come and also through out the rest of the day to keep it at bay, you can also rinse your mouth with warm salted water and this should sooth it (do not use cold water as it will make your teeth more senisive) all dark food should be avoided for 24 hours because your teeth will be whitening for 24 hours so for the following 24/48 hours any white food is recomended.

If anybody has any further questions I will be happy to help =)"

    Yes I have some questions

who assesses people as suitable for whitening?
What chemicals exactly do you use and at what concentration?
What insurance do you have and in what country is the insurance based/from?
Who carries out the whitening process and are they registered with the GDC?
Where exactly are these "clinics" are they permanent set ups or franchises in offices etc?
What cross infection controls are there and how regularly are staff trained in cross infection control, resusitation etc?
What training exactly do staff under go and for how long before they are allowed to practice on people?

Laser LED light..... it is either a laser or it is a led light Which is it?

Opens pores in the tooth..... hmmm there are no pores in teeth , what the light does is heat the solution up and dehydrate the teeth (dry them out), hydrogen peroxide does not deactivate after 24 hours it is active for an hour or two at most. The pain is due to traumatised tooth pulp (nerve) exposed to heat and chemicals. Is this info part of your official information and in which case are you going to change it?

What systems are in place if person has pain/burnt gums etc afterwards to give advice help?
  • In response to charlenepearlnational, my review and others of your company is fair. If it is not a total waste of time scam then it shows that the company you work for is just ignorant and incompetant. I wasted my day, spent money on childcare and travel and wasted a day off work when I arrived at my appointment and no one was there or could even be bothered to call to tell me so. I have not been re embursed for the expenses I have had to pay as a result of your compnay or even had an apology. This as happened to a lot of people so how do you explain that? I still have not got my money back, I just get passed between you and groupon.

  • Hi all
My wife and her friend bought vouchers for this in Dec 2010 and yesterday was the FOURTH time they have cancelled on the day. Yesterday's excuse was they did not have materials for job. Previous excuses include moving and not being able to let any one in!
I believe the Leeds branch used same excuse a few days ago to another customer. Paid with paypal so will involve them now.
