I have to say at those prices, id be tempted toward something like this for my next car..... But i'd have to do some checking on the reliability side of things first I think.

Really? It looks clean and tidy inside based on the pictures.

Mark on the steering wheel and the seats look dirty with a slight yellow/brown to them. The brake pedal rubber however looks ok, not too worn.

Maybe the previous owner liked to wear cheap beige pants with low quality colourfast dye.

Either that or they had continence issues.

Why would you want do that?

Then it won't be identifyable as a 12 year old car. Nice old thing to waft about in but I will stick to my 1 owner 1.2 car that gives 55mpg!!
  • For that money it would be no great loss if you scrapped it in a year.
Not sure about that wood(?) interior though, but for that money who cares?
Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

Got a huge Buzz out of it.

Ive actually just stuck it back on ebay... to see how much I will get for it, if it doesnt get near a price in my mind, ill cancel the auction keep it and go for the long haul and look towards the lpg route.
webuyanycar (rip offs) have offered £960 for it and carcraft £1300-£2300 trade in, but they have only little crap cars starting at £3500 to buy instead so will see how i goes.

    whatcar.com have the following values
    Jaguar S-type Saloon 3.0 V6 SE 4dr 1999 (V ) 52,935 miles
    Dealer £2,270
    Private £2,110
    Part ex £2,085
    Trade £1,970
    Cost new £32,980

thats not taking in to account the interior spec im guessing, so looks like a bargain on face of it, not sure what the vauxhall quote above uses to calculate though.

im not here to publicise the auction here if youre interested you can find it easy enough lol

Those advisories wouldn't worry me in the slightest - you can do a ball joint yourself with a bit of brute force, couple of jacks and a seperator. Check them with a pry bar, if they havent been replaced then do them yourself and have someone fix the tracking for you.

A lot of car for the money these big jags, the interior does look a bit tired but you can get leather dye that will really sort it out and make the cracks much less obvious. Does look a bit suspect given its claimed mileage, but does it really matter at the price?

Agrees with this. Even with a garage, parts will probably only be £20-30, plus 30 mins labour each side. Tracking too and you'll be looking at roughly £100 spent.

And the handling will be much better.
