not sure if you could do this with dried chickpeas as I've only used tinned but perhaps if they had been soaked it might work................
drain them well and dry on kitchen paper, spray with oil, mix whatever spices you prefer - curry powder or cinnamon and sugar work well - put everything in bag and shake. Then put the peas onto a baking tray and shove into med hot oven till crispy. They don't take long and you need to jiggle them a bit.
Just a thought - it might work well in a frying pan instead
OOH thanks for this I have loads of cooked chick peas taking up space in my freezer :jI went a bit mad one day and cooked a large bag -chick peas everywhere!!I had soaked them overnight and they were trying to escape from the kitchen when I got up!!lol ......and I love to have something to nibble iykwim:rotfl: :rotfl:

Had to throw away 1 small courgette today which was very squishy and 2 corn cobs which I thought were OK but when I came to cook them were disgusting.0

Has anyone got an easy recipe for a veggie curry? My lot are all carnivores but I would really like to try them with a veggie version. Plus chicken is getting expensive so it would save some cash if I could get them to eat it.
Many thanks
Here's the one I did tonight -
I diced some potatoes/swede and carrots and boiled them whilst i sorted the other stuff out.
Fried onion and garlic, stirred in 3 tabs Pataks Tikka Masala curry paste, then added chopped yellow and green pepper/a courgette/mushrooms and half a green chilli. Then I added a tin of chopped tomatoes and half a tin of water. Then strained and added the diced veg, left it simmering over a low heat whilst the rice cooked.
No quantities really - I just put in what I had in the fridge. Othertimes I have added in different veg, or used a curry powder mix.0 -

Bother - had to throw some bits away this evening. I'd got some mutton out of the freezer for a curry this evening, but when I came to cut it up it smelt slightly off so that got binned. Then there was an onion which had both sprouted AND gone soft, and a rather manky shallot too (only bought those last week to make Thai curry paste with some leftover stalks of lemongrass and a couple of fresh chillis coming to the end of their life - wouldn't have expected it to have gone manky quite yet). Also one parsnip which has been in the fridge forgotten for rather too long for even me to fancy!
Dinner tonight used up the last two mushrooms from last weeks punnet and some other random veg with (in the end following the mutton trauma above!) some beef from the freezer, a can of chopped tomatoes and the remains of the sauce from last weekend's curry (I'd have thrown it away before - this time it got put into a plastic box and popped into the freezer!) Made a really nice curry - even though there was only a couple of spoonfuls of the curry sauce from the indian takeaway it gave the whole dish a really authentic taste.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I'd love to join in too if I may.
my trouble is that I have very limited time.4 kids + husband + husky dog and 20 hour a week work with one hour traveling time or more carting kids off to babysitter and picking up again..
but I've GOT to reduce cost of living as thing are getting more expensive by the day!
nr one trouble in this house..
BREAD!
the kids will not eat the first and last slice of a loaf
they always get left and pushed to the back of the breadbin and left to mould...
WHAT is a quick and good solution to that?
next point of progress is fresh veggies...
we are often late and hectic and end up pulling stuff out of the freezer or just eating chips for tea.. veggies get left to weep... till it's too late.
husband and 3 kids are not keen on soup.....
I've got more problems but will start with these first.

hi, could kkep all your crusts for breadcrumbs, or bread and butter pudding, veg buy frozen, its just as good as fresh as most is frozen hours after picking, or if you ever have time blanche and freeze your own. try batch cooking when you have time so you can avoid so many chips. One day I will live in a cabin in the woods0

How do you freeze fresh veg?
can you freeze say carrots,swede,broc and sweetcorn (tinned) all in same freezer bag?Sealed Pot dec 08 - dec 09 so far £27.67, Live off £4k Spent £330.20 GC £1,200 for 2009 Spent £50.78 PaD so far £650.07Debts: L/woods £154.00 C/One PAID O/D £649.90 Next £299.95 O/D PAID Gas £72.60 Electric £155.73 Mum £640.00 Orange £490.320 -
With more veg you could cut it into the size of pieces you want - broc & cauli into florets, carrots into sticks etc, then plunge them into boiling water for no more than a couple of minutes to blanch them. Drain them off well and cool rapidly by spreading them out on a baking sheet. Once they are cool pop them into freezer bags and freeze in portion sizes.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
