do i have to log the scraps that the guinea piggies get as its not waste its their dinner as such, otherwise im going to have a tonne of waste lol

Um that was the idea yeah, coz otherwise I'll just feed everything to the dog or shove it on the compost like I normally do totally disregarding the fact that it's really just a better class of wasting it coz the food was always meant for me to eat.

Of course if you always meant certain stuff to be for the pets or it's not usually eaten by most people (eg cauli leaves) then that's fair enough, it's guinea food.

Don't sweat it too much, I wasn't expecting anyone to join in so I drafted the rules for me really rather than for everyone else too. I think I personally needed to face the facts that just coz I fed the insides of a chicken pie to the dog it doesn't mean it's acceptable to let said pie go off in the first place! :o

I'll have a go. However I am hopeless at this and I might well drag the side down! I will try though and I have no pets to sneak the food to!

I am so glad you joined, I'm far from confident too, especially since I made feeding it all to my dog or sticking it in the compost against the rules! I am just debating if I can eat two pasties in one day coz boyfriends just decided he is gonna go to bed and not eat his (it wont keep till tomorrow- no way).

So potentially my day one may already include 1/3 of a tomato (on closer inspection it was indeed mouldy) and a whole pasty! This is not exactly a flying start!

I deffo want some more unconfident people to join in coz so far I'm the only one failing haha! :rotfl:

Chuck the pasty in the freezer for another day? Assuming of course you had not got it out of the freezer in the first place.

I need help! There's some milk in my fridge with a due date of today. It's usually ok for a couple of days after that as well but it still needs using up and I can't think what for. It's about quarter of a pint, a bit too much to finish in tea I think but not really enough for making anything with that I can think of.

    Please can I join Sarsie?

Like lots of other people I try my best but usually slip up. Don't have any pets so nothing will be disposed of that way. (How I miss having a dog sometimes)
My problem is I am on my own & it is all too tempting to buy packs that are way too large for a singleton.
At the moment I have loads of stuff in the fridge that needs eating as had a guest over the Bank Holiday

Can I join too?? I am doing pretty good at cutting down waste bit think the challenge would push me to be a bit more efficient. We waste a lot of bagged salad but now my pots of mixed leaves are growing that should stop. I do freeze single portions of leftovers as DH never knows if he is going to be hungry. In fact the other day we were at a loss of what to have for tea and I pulled out 5 portions of spag bol and served it up, and it actually tasted better than it had originally!

Cheers Zippy! I luuurve pancakes, no eggs though and if I buy some that just creates something else to use up! Usually I use eggs by baking but won't have time. Spot of cheese sauce perhaps... Or I might just have extra milky tea :D

This using things lark is made more difficult by the fact I'm going on holiday next week, so things that usually would get used in the end I won't be able to as I will be away while they go off.

Hi all. I haven`t done too badly, although only the second day. I had some potato peelings yesterday, that went into the compost and so far today 5 grapes, that were at the back of the fridge and waaayy past eating. I would have also thrown the ends of the loaf, but i`ll whizz them up for bread crumbs and pop into the freezer, so no throwing away.

I use leftover sausage by slicing it thinly and adding it to home-made tomato sauce, to have with pasta :)

i've got some mushrooms that needed using, so put them in a pan with a vegetable stock cube, some milk, paprika, basil and pepper and added some sliced jersey royal potatoes that are past their best.... don't know what to have them with, though...
