Phew!
Anyone who does have heating on must be mad it's flipping boiling!
Easier for saving money though so shouldn't complain

Good luck with the MIL! I don't envy you!
Was talking to a friend that works at the same school as me and he asked me to look at his payslip as he thought it was wrong and then I looked more closely at mine and we both have the same issue - neither of us has been paid at our new rate (newish teachers go up a point on the payscale in Sept). I didn't realise because the strike day had been taken out this month and I just assume its right - but its not! I'm owed another £100 after tax - he said he's seen the HR people and he'll get the extra as back pay next month so I hope its the same for me (should be!). Have emailed them pronto to make sure they know about it!
I'll look on it as a form of saving and put it away once I get it - enforced saving!
Good news for next payday though I suppose - I'll get more than I'd originally thought as "basic" pay.
Hope they sort it out soon.0 -
Hi WW - annoying to be underpaid - good that you should shortly get it back tho. Like you said savings for a rainy day.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Have spoken to the salary people at work who have sorted out all of the pay problems and called the council wages dept for me (saved me a job and they got the right person first time). I was right about not being paid the right amount - I'll get it as back pay next month, the right salary for my job and the bonus will definitely come with October's wages - hurrah!:j:j:j Only 2 weeks to wait until I'm finally properly solvent again and have a cushion every month - phew!
With no debts anymore (other than the CC bill that will be paid off in full with some of the bonus) I can start putting more money in the savings account.
Living alone is more manageable than I thought it would be financially - I seem to be coping OK even without my payrise this month (which is tighter but OK) and paying off the little OD from the summer and the upheaval of OH leaving. So all is well!
Only the tax rebate to sort now.....
Got a few books to mark tonight and a little bit of organising to do but its Friday tomorrow - hurrah again!:rotfl:
PS Still boiling here - no heating:p0 -
Yay to a cushion every month - that has got to help. Bigger yay to nice hot weather altho I think it may be contributing to my lack of sleep - I'm just too warm.
Great that you are managing okay on a single wage - well done you!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thankfully its Friday!:j:j
Plodded through today - glad its the end of the week.
Not much planned for the weekend - schoolwork and rest! Have a big weekend next week so am hopefuly conserving the funds for that.
Have to finish the shopping list for tomorrow and write a list of work to do but other than that am having a flop around the house tonight.
There's lots of jobs that also need doing over the next few days around the house but they can wait until tomorrow - have a bottle of wine in the fridge and plan to watch the soaps and relax with it later.;)0 -
Decided to whip round Mr T's before the wine malaise set in and managed to spend £31 on groceries - a teeny bit over the budget of £30.
Didn't see much evidence of the price drop they've been advertising though.
Will manage to do the washing and the bins tonight too - a few less jobs for tomorrow.
Also got hair dye and 2x 8 packs of diet pepsi at half price - but that's from a different budget.0 -

- Mow the grass/jungle done

- Take dog to park later when its cooler for him done

- Do a face and body scrub done

It turned out to be another lovely day so instead of mooching around the house me and the dog went to watch the local rugby side play - free to get in and treated myself to a pint and a packet of crisps whilst there in the sun. Very civilised!
Have managed to do most things on my list too - will do the rest tomorrow.
Time for some tea I think.......0
