I'm not calling them resolutions because they never last very long so they're more aims for 2012.
Having finally become debt free in 2011 and nearly getting through the divorce process, the focus is on building up a reserve and getting some long overdue things done.

    Right, here we go.....
    1. Stay debt free
    2. Get the divorce finalised - have the nisi, only the absolute to go
    3. Get the not to be touched savings up to at least £4000, currently at about £3100
    4. Save enough to pay for one of the insurances outright by putting away a few pounds a month
    5. Get the living room decorated by saving the cash and not using a credit card - currently have £650 saved
    6. Redecorate the spare bedroom - paint, curtains, bedding and a little bit of new furniture
    7. Sort out a new car - current lease ends in July
    8. Get emergency savings up to about £500 (currently at about £100)
    9. See if I'm due any tax back
    10. do something with the garden - its a right state
    11. Think about a holiday in the summer
Thats enough to keep me busy but hopefully realistic goals.

The initial effort will be focussed on finalising the divorce and decorating the living room.

When I think about it 2011 was a bit of a pivotal year - my job contract was made permanent, I got promoted, I became debt free, I separated from OH and subsequently started divorce proceedings, I've had to rejig everything to be able to cope financially on my own, turned 40 and I'm still here to tell the tale!:j

I'm hoping to become a fabulous 40 and glow with health and happiness - there's more to life than money (but it certainly helps!) and its time to focus on my wellbeing, friends and family and devote more time to me.

    Here's to a sooperdooper 2012!

sounds like you've come a long way this year.
I'm gonna start using your savings plan so that we can decorate our new house (once we're in there). I just have a terrible habit of not showing much patience, probably how i got into so much debt.

Happy new year WW - you have achieved a lot in a year and dealt with a lot too. I like the idea of a beautifying plan...

Your parents were very generous too! We've just redecorated our living room - magnolia walls - we painted them, did the gloss work done, got someone in to do new flooring, new suite (shhhhh) and a new cabinet for our TV (altho the last was from ikea so not as bad financially as it could have been) etc. I feel like I landed in one of those home programmes - really pleased with what we've done. Our lounge is now a pleasure to be in again - before it looked shabby no matter how many efforts we made to clean and polish. Hopefully you will get a similar positive feeling as you start to get it sorted - especially now you have the house to yourself - just your tastes to cater to
