Oh hello all! Nice to see yo having a chat in my absence! I've been a bit lazy updating stuff this week - sorry!
Just back from Mr T's and even though I took a list I went a bit bonkers - I think sometimes you just get fed up of watching every penny and just get what you fancy - that's what happened today anyway. Managed to spend £39 from a budget of £30 - oh well, its not a complete disaster financially for me but a bit silly all the same:o (I did get some yummy stuff for a change though)
Its still cold wet and manky here so not a lot planned for today that involves being outside - just dog walking between the sleet showers. Going to do a bit of school work later - get it out of the way I suppose.
I have to clean the whole house, do the laundry and all the other domestic bliss that has to happen on the weekend.
Staying in tonight too - you just don't want to go out on these horrible cold dark nights.
Right the hoover is beckoning:o0 -

Hello all! Sorry I haven't been around for a few days it been madly busy.
I had a review interview this week to judge whether my promotion can be made permanent and it can! Hurrah! That means I keep the extra £125 a month (take home) and can now officially relax:j Loads of work put in for the whole thing that lasted all of 15 mins:mad:
Last night was the work Xmas do - I wasn't going but was coerced by colleagues at the last minute - was OK but nothing special - at least I didn't have time to buy anything new to wear. Still spent £20 on taxis and £20 there.
I've also decorated the bathroom using left over emulsion and gloss and had an offcut of carpet from the bedroom laid today - total cost £30 for the carpet fitting and £30 for a new blind, accessories and hand towels. New bathroom for £60:T
Not much in the way of other things today though due to being kn*ckered.....- Popped to hairdressers for free fringe trim
- Whizzed round Mr S and spent £11 (trying not to shop until later in the week and will then do the mega Xmas shop)
- Cleaned upstairs after carpet man had been
- Hoovered and dusted downstairs
- Walked dog in a very slippery park
- Gave in and bought a Subway for lunch - but did get a meal deal:o
- Get Xmas decs down from attic
- Maybe put up decorations (can't be bothered at the moment)
- Drop off Xmas cards for the street (have been written for about 2 weeks!)
- Stay in tonight and watch telly like a zombie
- Do new budget now I've been paid - have overspent planned amount already though due to Xmas do:(
- Walk dog again
- One load of washing

Well, its only one more day at work to go! Hurrah:j:j
Xmas stuff is nearly all done - decorations are up, cards are delivered, non-perishable food stuff and treats bought, beds changed ready for guests and all there's left to do is wrap a few pressies.
Its all so much hassle isn't it!
I've had to rejig the budget for the month a bit after my impromptu night out on Friday. Not much planned for the run up to Xmas apart from afternoon tea at the Midland hotel (very posh) on Thursday with work colleagues - quite expensive but been planned for ages (since the summer) and its my 40th birthday on the day.
I need to go shopping on Friday to get the final Xmas groceries (all the fresh stuff) and pop to the pet shop for a few tiny bits and pieces.
Then on Xmas Eve the clan arrive for 3 days ......
Help!0 -
School's out for Xmas!!! Hurrah!
Resisted going to the pub after our early finish - need to save cash for Thursday's outing instead.
Took the dog for a nice long walk in daylight for a change instead of boozing - not the same but I feel quite virtuous!0 -
Morning all!
Even though its my first day off I'm still on work time and have been awake for ages so thought I'd get up and do something constructive.
I need to write a list of things that need doing before Xmas Eve to make sure I get it all done, so here goes.....- Put up blind in bathroom failed, there are some things that you just need a man to do! Will pay/bribe one!
- Do Mr T shop using vouchers left over (£50 worth so going to stock up on everyday things for the rest of the month and new year including toiletries and dog food). done, spent £57 in total
- Dye hair done
- Tidy front garden if it stops rainng
- Reseal shower gave it a good scrub instead, will reseal between xmas and new year
- Change bed done
- Wash dressing gowns done
- Pop to off licence for a few things done
- Clean oven (maybe) s*d it, it will only get dirty again!
- Clean right through the house done most of it, final hoover and dust tomorrow morning
- Clean wooden floors will leave until Sat morning
- Give conservatory a good sorting and clean done
- Replace kitchen light bulbs done
- Wrap a few pressies done
- Buy something for the two dogs for Xmas done

Well I've just been to Mr T's expecting a fight round the aisles and it wasn't too bad - no queue at the till and managed to get everything on my list.
I've already done the non-perishable Xmas food shop and will go again on Friday for the fresh stuff.
This trip was to spend a £50 saving stamp card that my mum had given me towards the Xmas food - but I decided to use it to stock up the freezer and cupboards for after Xmas and into the New Year.
For the first time ever I took a calculator round with me and added it up as I went along - the list came to £51 so not too bad and I spent an extra £6.50 on toiletries on offer and hair dye.
So a total spend (cash) of £7.50 - not bad for a trolley full!
I now have a bursting freezer (loads of quorn and veggie products and frozen veg and potato things), tons of tins and jars and dried things like rice and pasta, enough dog food for a few weeks and a nice tea for tonight!
I only need to make two evening meals before the visitors arrive on Saturday (take away for tea on Sat courtesy of mum) and I have plenty of bits in for them.
Just the battle for the fresh stuff to go now!0
