Had to part with £140 ish today in the form of council tax and phone bill:mad:
I'll withdraw £80 tomorrow to cover the afternoon out, Xmas day drinks at the pub and Boxing Day festivities with family.
After that's gone out that leaves me with £200 to last through to payday after bills are paid. I'll only need to spend a small amount (£30 or so hopefully) on fresh groceries until next payday after the big stock up shop of today.
I'm not going out on New Years Eve (hate it!) so no big spends there, just maybe a bottle of wine.
I will need to put a bit of petrol in so that's £20 gone I suppose. Leaving about £150 to go.
I have put away £50 into the living room fund and £10 into the insurance virtual pot so all's not lost!
I don't want to be overdrawn this month if I can help it - I have paid for the bathroom to be decorated and the carpet laid too and had an impromptu night out so I do have something to show for the lack of cash I suppose but this has been the tightest month for a while after I separated from the exOH.
Christmas only comes once a year thankfully though I suppose.
I've dyed my hair and done my nails tonight -in the old days I would have paid someone to do this but needs must.
At least I won't look absolutely awful on my birthday now!
I didn't think it would bother me but the closer its got the more wobbly I feel about being 40. I don't think it helps that I had an email from ex to tell me his decree nisi arrived today - mine hasn't, I guarantee it will tomorrow with the birthday cards - what a lovely present!
Oh well, onwards and upwards!
I feel the need to find a new goal for the New Year to give me something to think about and focus on.
Will have a think about it - I need to lose at least half a stone and perhaps start exercising (other than dog walking) again.
I also need to seriously think about the living room decoration and what I need to buy and how much it will cost and where to get things from.
I need to think about a holiday next summer too - something to look forward to and to save for.
No more dwelling - time to be positive!:o0 -
I've had a lovely afternoon at posh champagne afternoon tea - champagne, mulled wine, ickle sandwiches, scones, cakes etc
And to make it even more lovely when the bill came my friends and colleagues had already had a whip round to pay for mine (£30):j:j
And, the man on the grand piano played happy birthday and out came a beautiful cake in the shape of a tea pot with sparklers !! All completely unexpected and very gratefully received! Almost made me cry!
To say thank you I took them all to the Xmas markets for a mulled wine - only cost £17 so not too bad.
I even got a lift there and back saving taxi/tram fares.
I've given in and ordered a takeaway for my birthday to be delivered later - £8 but worth it as a treat.
Perhaps being 40 isn't too bad??;)
(Oh, and the divorce decree came today as expected - even that couldn't spoil my day:)).0 -

Phew, I haven't stopped today!
First the battle round Mr T's for the fresh stuff for Xmas and on to Pets at HOme for dog pressies. Then home to unpack stuff, then off to the big out of town M&S (bought some trousers and a last minute present for a friend), then a mega clean of most of the house, a good scrub of the shower panels and skirting boards, long dog walk and finally a sit down!
There's still stuff to do but I'm having a rest!0 -
happy belated birthday WW, glad you had lovely friends who treated you well, sods law about the decree arriving but at least you know you're starting a new chapter on the perfect day.
we experienced Mr A's today and it wasnt' the worse i've ever seen, to be honest i've seen bigger queues on an average weekend visit there.0 -

The clan are arriving today (mum, dad and sister) and I still have a few things to do....
- Put the bins out
- Hoover and dust the house (again! flipping dogs!)
- Put clean towels out
- Clean the guest bathroom
- Clean the wooden floors after dog walk
- Quick tidy of the garden
- Walk dog
- Get more milk maybe and a bit of cash from the cashpoint at the shop
I've decided to focus more on myself and tart myself up a bit to make me feel better - I've joined the frump to fab challenge and popped in to the SW thread again, vowing to get back on the wagon after Xmas.
Last night I took my make up off and used night cream and eye cream for the first time in ages and used rich handcream before bed. Little things but they'll hopefully be habit forming after a few days/weeks?
Right I'd better get the dog walked (will try to be a bit more vigourous to burn off a mince pie!) and start the cleaning.
Have a lovely Xmas!0
