Hi WW - It will be some effort - more mental than physical but quite a big financial boost relative to effort ... So exciting! This year I was determined to earn a second income and wrote down about 80 ways of achieving it - this was number about 73!! But I'm happy as it is a good start and will boost my confidence for other things....
Bowl of soup - I think quorn is usually a quick stir fry thing - I can't imagine putting it in a slow cooker - I would have thought it would just disintegrate (altho I'm happy to be proved wrong)Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

can you do quorn in the slow cooker or is it a quick stove top thing?

I don't have a slow cooker so I'm not sure - it doesn't take much cooking so it may disintegrate? Let me know how it goes!
SH - you sound so upbeat about your new venture that I'm sure it will succeed!0 -
Just been reading the OS thread about whether the heating is on or not yet - mine is defintely OFF and I'm trying to hang on until the clocks change (Sunday Oct 30th).
I did have it on for an hour yesterday while working in the office room as it was cold even with extra layers on but don't need it at all today. Hopefully we'll have the predicted heatwave and it can stay off! I must have had it on for a total of 3 hours since May/June.
With it only being me and the dog now with any luck the gas and electric bills will go down and so will the water useage. We'll see..
May try to dig out the last bill with the last meter reading and see how much I've used over the summer - although I'm not sure I can make any sense of it:o (and I'm a science teacher!).
Made lunch for tomorrow and hopefully will have a NSD. Will report in.....0 -
Hi WW
Our heating is well and truly off and has been for months... we have learned the value of jumpers, cardis and blankets since finding mse.... Blankets are definitely a good investment. TBF tho we live in a modern house and have been leaving the windows and backdoor open some of the day... We have clothes out on the line too....
I am really pleased with this consultancy offer - a little scared too - but mostly excited.... Need to bite and buy some insurance by Wednesday... Someone told me today theirs was £116 pa which is about half the quotes so far... I am trying to find out who they are with so I can try and find out if that would be suitable for me as don't want to pay more than I need to but want to make sure have enough cover... tricky!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

i always try and hang out as long as possible before the heating goes on, think the best i made it was mid - end November. Hopefully we'll make it that far again this year now we have lovely new double glazing.
At the moment we've got washing outside and it's drying and we've still got all the windows open so it's all good.0 -
Hi WW,
I'm trying to hold off putting my heating on til October - but will try and push back to clock change now I've seen you are
I've got a wood stove so am going to try and put that on instead, although I think it will be mornings where I will need the central heating!

Hello everyone  Nice to see you all dropping in and keeping me company!
A lovely day here so the heating is firmly OFF!
Another busy day at work - Tuesdays are always bonkers for me - its like an onslaught! We have really important visitors in school tomorrow so there's no respite! 3 and a half weeks to half term!
Had a few good bits of news - the £50 "overtime" has been paid (almost didn't notice) and exOH has put £50 he owed me in my account making this month a teeny bit easier financially. Also the last of the amazon money has landed in my account and is now tucked away in the savings account.:T
Either leftovers or something from the freezer for tea - can't be doing with cooking much today.
Have to whizz the hoover round downstairs because the dog has brought half the park back with him and the towels are in the machine now - that's enough domesticity for today:rotfl:0 -
Hi WW,
Have subscribed and enjoying reading your diary. I'm another dog lover
Mine will be 7 on Sunday so planning to get him some lambs liver from the butchers for a treat

Hi WW - great to have the money back in your pocket not theirs! I bet you've got a lot on at work this week....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well, we all survived the day with the visit from the government minister - back to normal tomorrow I hope.
Had a letter from the council and they've finally got the council tax right - after 3 months and about 10 letters! Don't need to pay until Oct so will be able to budget properly for it then.
Also had an email from the library saying the next book in my reservation list is ready to collect - I'm reading To Kill a Mocking Bird at the moment - not my usual thing (normally serial killers and crime) but quite enjoying it surprisngly. I'm trying to broaden my horizons:rotfl:
My mission for tomorrow is to try to track down my bonus - will need to phone the council again (oh joy!) to see if its on their radar.
Don't need to do any urgent schoolwork tonight so I'm having a rest and watching telly if there's anything on and having a nice bath. Only 2 days until the weekend - hurrah!:j
PS Heating is still off - the "heatwave" has arrived!0
