Saving Holmes - hope your recovery is speedy - there's nothing worse than being laid up when you're itching to do something.
Well, good news - the dog has made a full recovery:j So no vets fees and a happy pooch - have phoned to cancel the appointment.
Managed to take lunch again today (although was sorely tempted by the chips on offer). That's another full week without spending on food at work - only 4 weeks to go until half term....
Another few pounds has arrived from ebay/paypal so that's been moved to the savings account - every little helps! I think that's it now though apart from £16ish to come from amazon.
Also did a survey and have been invited to do a trial for face wipes - have run out so that's a good thing - getting paid to do it too!
Not much planned for the weekend really - we have a VIP visitor in school next week and everything has to be superdooper so will probably end up doing quite a bit of work. Good job I enjoy it most of the time.
I'm staying in tonight to watch the soaps and have a rest with no work for the evening and managed to resist a bottle of wine on the way home (£5 better in my pocket I suppose).
Trying to think of something for tea that doesn't involve much effort and not spending anything - failing miserably at the moment though!:(0 -
Aww WW sorry you can't think of something easy and low cost for tea...
We had fr&y b3nt0s pies last night that we'd bought when they were £1 each... Tonight we're having £2 chicken kievs from Mr As with mash potatoes and fresh veg... other days I'm hoping to making a fajita dinner (but bought a cheap kit) and another day plan to do a home made stir fry but didn't have the energy tonight!!
You could do something like chilli or spag bol quickly if you had the ingrediets in... I tend to always keep some stuff frozen in the freezer just in caseAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Tea turned out to be veggie sausages, potato croquettes (both from the freezer) and beans - not very exciting!
Have decided to give myself a bit of an MOT tonight whilst staying in - finger and toe , face and body scrub and a nice bath. Much needed!
I've been using up different moisturisers in an attempt to stop me buying a new one - have managed to get through the Davina 14 day free samples (not noticably younger but no worse!), and a Clarins travel size posh one that's got a few days left in it. Also have a Clinique free gift sized tube and some Clinique every day stuff to go back to and use up so they should keep me going for a good few weeks to come. I may finish off the body scrub tonight but I have a nice one from Xmas in the stash to replace it, so won't need to buy one of those either.0 -
Morning!
Have quite a bit to do today - nothing very exciting - so I thought I'd write a list to remind me....- Hoover and dust whole house done
- Clean bathrooms done
- Do grocery shopping done
- Walk dogs lots (paw permitting!) done, now raining though
- Do at least one load of washing done
- Text friends done
- Mow front lawn if rain holds off
- Check bank done
- Do surveys done
- Stay in tonight and watch a movie from the planner
- Try to spend as little as possible done
- Write 4x GCSE physics lessons done
- Do triple science revision schedule done
- Write 3 x yr9 chemistry lessons done, turned out to be 4 lessons needed!
- Mark one set of books done one and half sets! Then ran out of steam.....
- Look at 6th form lessons for next week done, written this weeks and next weeks
- Think about performance management stuff
- Make revision guide for physics
- Do a schedule for afterschool stuff done
- Start new yr 10 lessons for the future
Watching rugby for a while this morning then I'd better get cracking.0 -
Just back from the weekly trawl round Mr T's - spent £25.67 on groceries and £3.69 on a cheap own brand bottle of rose (perfectly OK to drink).
I was aiming for £20-25 so only a little bit over on the grocery shopping - dog food was £6 of the total:eek:
I also picked up a chana masala and some cheap naan breads at a total of about £2 for tea instead of a £10 takeaway tonight so I suppose I'm saving there too!0 -
WW - you are doing amazing on the grocery spend!! How many people are you feeding?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

There's just me and the dog who's very greedy and his shopping costs almost as much as mine! (not quite!)
My shopping budget covers all food, toiletries and cleaning/laundry stuff but not alcohol which is usually no more than a bottle of wine every week.
Was just thinking about money in the bank and have realised that there are a few things that need doing to make sure that all money I'm owed ends up in my account...- Get work to pay me for an extra day I did before the summer that hasn't been paid - will speak to HR this week (about £50 after tax I think)
- Make sure bonus gets paid - need to ring the council (teacher) to ensure its on their "to do list" ((about £3300 after tax)
- Raise untracked £40 on quidco - been waiting ages and nothings happening
- Ring tax office for my rebate of about £200 overpaid tax
I've also volunteered to work an extra half day during half term in October doing revision for GCSE exams - will get paid extra for this but need to make sure they don't forget again.
Watched a movie recorded on the Sky box tonight and had my "takeaway" curry for tea - have also managed to do quite a bit of work but still have a good few hours to do tomorrow to be really up to date.
Also have worked out an evening meal plan for the week (nothing very exciting, still using up the freezer contents).......
Egg fried rice (sunday)
Veg pasta and garlic bread (monday)
Jacket potato, beans and cheese (tuesday)
Quorn curry, rice or naan bread (x2) (weds and thurs)
Fish, wedges and peas (friday)
There are alternatives in case I don't fancy it on the day and lunches for work are also sorted. So there's no excuse for anything to be bought other than maybe some milk.0 -
I like the sound of £3.5K waiting to come your way - has got to help
I'm really excited at the moment as I have some possible new income to come in... scary tho as need to earn it on top of the day job (and avoid spending it in advance LOL)Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

How exciting SH! What's it all about? Does it involve a lot of effort?0

Hello Welsh Woofer,
I also have a woofer but he's a border woofer! I've just done a freezer audit and noticed (That's why I'm this mess - not thinking about what i buy) some quorn - I always make my own curry wiv spices etc and usually use lamb - but as I want to try to knock £1500 off my OD this month, I'm intending to minimise my shop and use what's in the freezer - can you do quorn in the slow cooker or is it a quick stove top thing?
