Well Done :T an extra 100pm has got to be worth it :T:j Where there is a will there is a way - there is a way and I will find it :j0

Quite a few changes here. The car is going up for sale this weekend. We won't get much for it but we will save on average £100 per month.
In addition we're stopping our gym membership. It was worth the money as we were taking the children swimming twice a week and using it a lot ourselves, however, we're going to use bikes and walking for the next 12 months and perhaps join one in the future when we're debt free. This will be a saving of £75 a month.
I'm stopping my studies until we're debt free so this will save around £60 a month.
With a couple of other small changes there is a total saving of £253 a month. I'm kicking myself for carrying on the gym this long when it's something we shouldn't have been paying out for until we were out of debt but at least it's sorted now. Hopefully we'll get a few hundred for the car to put towards debt too.
Now i'm off to declutter!January budget

Well done, sounds like you are doing some really positive changes there :j . Good luck with the de-cluttering, it is guaranteed to make you feel better though. You never know what treasures you can find...;)SSB0

Hiya Beanielou
In a perfect world i'd like to carry on studying but ultimately once I have the degree it won't mean I get paid more as i'm self employed. Part of me also feels bad that there are times when I need to study but my children want to bake/play/just annoy me! Lol! I think i'll enjoy studying more when I have no debt and the children are a little older. I'm still finishing my current course so i'm going to try really hard to enjoy it and not stress! I've got to a stage where I just want to be debt free and then pay of the mortgage in the next ten or so years. Don't want much do I!! Thanks for your kind words, they mean a lot and keep me going xxJanuary budget

hey ljd, sounds like your making good ends towards getting debt free (just read through this thread).
i know how you feel about the gym, it was one of the things i was loathe to give up when i started my dfw journey...so i got a job there and get it for free :rotfl: i also really enjoyed it and made good use of it but it is a terrible expense if your a dfw but like you say you can go back to it once your debt free and thats not gonna be so very far away!0 -
Hi LJD1, nice to see you on this thread too - i love your idea of spring cleaning your life - i have also been trying hence my visits here and fly lady but i really like your weekly targets - i have neglected my children slightly (well not that much really but guilt is something i love i'm sure!!
)
have spent lots of time on here inspired by many people so thanks to you too :T
think will start my own diary type thread as it must be motivating to read through - thanks again
glad your ok about stopping studying but also glad you are keeping on with the kick boxing - debt and mortgage free sounds an amazing plan!!0 -
Thanks for everyone's support. I dread to think what a mess i'd be in with out this site, it doesn't bare thinking about! I've actually decided to stop the kickboxing for now as there were more 'hidden' costs and it was costing me about £50 a month. My hubby is going to put a punch bag up in the house so i'll still be able to enjoy what i've learnt so far and hopefully get a bit fitter. I'm really looking forward to the day when we're debt free and any hobby I choose to do is going to be paid for with cash!
Just to prove it's not all sacrifices - we already have an allotment but we're now looking for a greenhouse so we can grow more in the garden. I've a phone number to call tomorrow for one that's free if we dismantle and remove ourselves so fingers crossed.
Look forward to reading your diary scaredy cat.January budget

Hi LJD1
Sounds like you are doing great :T
The allotment sounds great, my seeds came this week, i think I went a bit mad though as we only have 4 raised beds, I think alot is going to have to go in pots as well. Have you had a look at the Alan Romans seed site, all their seeds are 50p and its the same stuff as you would get from suttons etc, you just don't get the pretty packet. Fingers crossed for the green house for you
