you can buy the ISE machines online from uk white goods......

and they will deliver and install them....

so i don't think you need a local dealer...

This is correct. Ours was ordered online and was delivered and installed by someone from the Midlands.

I am thinking about getting a new washing machine & just came across a site that has an amazing amount of information.

Hope it might prove useful to other moneysavers. So far I find the part about the debatable benefit of having a hot water valve fascinating.

hope I do not land in hot water for giving a link to another site !

  • Just found this thread & was wondering if anyone had anything else to add? My LG has finally gone bang after 9 years & I need a replacement & this sounds ideal (if I can find anywhere that does them...)
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

I love my ISE10. Absolutely love it. It's built like a tank, and so simple to use. I don't think I'll ever need to buy another.

This should help with where to buy. I've kept a note of it as when my Hotpoint gives up the ghost I'm almost certain I'll be buying this machine.
  • I can only add to my previous posts but can say that the Miele has been wonderful. I do worry that the ISE deliveries are coming from so far away. If they are reliable there will be no need for a service engineer but if you need an engineer (and you will at some stage), and there is not one locally, the cost of lengthy travel will have to be paid for. In these circumstances the admittedly expensive cost of Miele service might not look so expensive.

    Hi Broadsword,

That doesn't happen. About 85% of the population has an engineer within 20-30 miles at the most.

It's rural areas that present a problem, but that presents a problem for ALL service networks and these areas are often sub contracted even by Miele, Indesit etc. that run their own engineers as they are not economically viable for one brand to have an engineer based in.

    Hi K

Miele do actually cover the whole of the country with their own repair men the only reason they sub contract any work (and this is with the customers full knowledge) is when their lead times extend a bit far. All of their sub contractors are fully trained on Miele appliances as well, to the same level as their own engineers.

Don't get me wrong I think the ISE brand is an excellent idea, any manufacturer that builds products to last as long as possible and not to a price gets my vote anyday. But, what would concern me is that the machines as far as I can tell are sold by repair companies or individuals and these are the same people that are general repair men that service all brands. My point is, for example, I would like to sell DeDietrich appliances, I think they make lovely ovens but I won't because they don't have a proper service department with their own engineers they rely on these same independent service companies that do all makes and there fore I feel these repair men don't have the specialist knowledge that the customer's of quality brands deserve. I would dread the classic line from a repair man 'I've never seen one of these before!' being said to one of my customers.

We spend over £100k on appliances with Miele each year and I would say that I may get just 1 call a year from a customer to say their Miele appliance that we sold them has gone wrong and they have been disappointed by the service department.

    Hi CK,

They are trained, sort of. A good friend of mine was a Miele agent but chucked it.

No stock is provided by Miele, unless you want to pay Miele prices for it so the guys don't buy parts in. Plus you have the size of the range to contend with.

They can get the laptop thing I think, if they want to shell out on that.

If there's enough work Miele take it back. If it's a charge call Miele often take it back. This is when they tend to do it themselves.

Basically, they are not trained, stocked or equipped to anything like Miele's own employed engineers and, to say otherwise is simply not true.

There's a host of other little problems with a Miele agency as well but I don't want to appear to be carving them up, I just think it's best people hear both sides, not just the Miele propaganda.

But I'm sure you can understand why my friend chucked it although, to be fair, the several thousand pounds worth of spares Miele didn't want to take back tainted his view rather red. ;)

    Hi K

Yep. At the end of the day we are on the same side! Showing potential purchasors that they really should invest in a quality appliance and not go down the disposable route. Its no good for them, its no good for us and its certainly not good for the environment!
