Yes, spares are available in fact some retailers have already started listing some of them for the first machine even although none are out of warranty yet. Any spares can be gotten from any of the sellers as well as from UK Whitegoods, I know that as we have them on the shelf.

    Hi redmist,

Sorry I've been away/busy the past few days. :(

There's a few on there I think but, TBH, I don't really pay much heed to it as the machines are not out of warranty as yet. IIRC though carbons are on there somewhere.

Soon enough there'll be a lot more though, especially for the first machines that were about.

However, one of the things that we've been crusading for on UK Whitegoods since the start is lower spares prices as some of them are utterly disgusting and, that's being polite. People look at the cost of repairs and think that the engineers are spanking them up when it's not really, it's the cost of parts that makes most repairs uneconomic, not the cost of the labour.

Just look at the likes of Servis or Whirlpool, it costs more for a motor in some washing machines that the machine cost How can that be?

When we started ISE we quickly came to realise how and, just before it did start I wrote a big piece called The Great Washing Machine Swindle which you can read from this link after doing a lot of consultancy to government on extended warranties and a few other little projects. It's all common sense really but sometimes it's hard to see through the BS you get in adverts and brochures.

I can assure you that, for me, any chance to embarrass the institution and shake them up a bit is something I just can't resist. But leaving that aside for a moment, it would be utterly stupid for ISE or UKW to support high spares prices as we've been the most vocal in the industry to get them made lower. It would be going totally against our principals which ain't gonna happen.

It may also surprise people to know that, while a lot of traders don't always agree with customers totally, we are actually generally on your side and trying to help. Well, some of us are at least.

Can't believe I am still waiting for my blimmin machine (4 weeks now).
We live close to the county border with Lancs. Our nearest ISE man is there, but (strangely) is not happy to come over the border to supply a machine. OH rang Mission Control in Kilmarnock, a machine was ordered, but out of stock til 24th November. We thought it would be worth the wait...
Phoned this week and was told 'two containers have gone missing' - one of them containing my washer . Perhaps it will come next week. Perhaps it won't.
There is only so long a woman can be expected to manage without a washer, and I am approaching my limit. Maybe I will have to settle for a Miele after all.

  • Sadly, this is likely to be the reality arising from the worries expressed in my post above when the logistics/distribution network is less than robust. My heart said ISE but ultimately my head said Miele and my new machine is already installed and working well. I too would have been in the batch about to arrive, with an out of area engineer . My additional worry would have been in ten years time when the same independent engineer (hope he's young and hasn't retired) had to travel a long distance and make negligible or no profit on the part. I will always wonder if his call out charge would rise to compensate.

I really do hope you are able to get the machine you want

    Two containers did arrive incorrectly.

The correct ones were sent to Iceland by the shipping company in error and are booked in on Tuesday at 9:00am. There was nothing that could be done about it, it was just a very inopportune time for such a mistake.

The only reason that there was no stock is that the machines sold at over 200% above target through August and September which ultimately meant that stock was wiped out by mid October. With the best will in the world you simply cannot anticipate that.

There's loads of people out there that don't want to sell ISE and that's well known as, quite simply there's a lower margin than Miele and they don't make as much on service as parts are cheaper. Traditional retailers don't want to know due to the margin and the lifespan.

Funnily enough though through the week I was speaking to Miele dealer of 20 years who wants to take ISE on as he's been writing Miele's off at under ten years old because a simple drain pump costs between £120 and £180 plus VAT. And, because it faults you need to get Miele in to reset the machine with a laptop, £99 plus VAT for the first 15 minutes and goodness knows what after that.

ISE10 drain pump, about £30. Anyone can fit it that's handy, no laptop required.

  • FWIW - we needed a new washing m/c in October, did our homework, bought a Miele (considered ISE, but were impressed by Miele reviews, happy to pay £500, and got a great, speedy delivery deal through the co-op). The Miele has lived up to our expectations so far, and came with a 5 year guarantee.

Shortly after this, my mum, who is one her own, and who has much lighter washing needs, and a smaller budget, asked us to see what we could find. In the end, she opted for an ISE2; we couldn't find a local dealer willing to quote/supply, but the ISE helpline was fab - we got two different quotes, and the machine from the suppliers she plumped for was delivered and installed it exactly when she wanted. For under £300 she's delighted with the quality of the machine and the wash it gives.

This might sound a weird request, but are there any videos of the ISE's in action? I can't find any on YouTube. :(

  • Shame you're in Darlington, as you could've popped in and watched my mum's in action, only she's in Lincoln, so a bit of a trek!

    'Damaged in transit', apparently.
    This machine better be good.
