Interesting thread. We have gone through about 6 washing machines in approx 22 years. Our first was a Zanussi which lasted nearly 10 years - WOW. I was impressed and bought another one, which died in 3 years *hmm must have been lucky with the first one*
So we bought a cheap £250 indesit, it made it past the year warrenty plus a few months before dying, repair man came out charged £50 for a circuit board, lasted 3 months and died again. Bought cheap for the next 5 years and on average they last 2 years before dying and I started treating them as disposable. Finally I thought lets buy a decent model to go with the nice new house we just got.
We bought a £500 Bosch with a 3 year guarentee, bound to last a while longer I thought, well we are 3 months out of guarentee and as usual with almost everything I buy as the guarentee runs out the machine dies, this one has stated to leak.
So I came across this 10 year guarenteed ISE10 for around £850 and this didn't sound bad although having had several bad experiences with "repairs" and "Guarentees" I wanted to know if anyone had actually used the guarentee or could vouch for it? For instance does it cover everything going wrong to the tiniest nut etc (i have had warentees that seem to not cover certain things) and do you not have to pay anything at all - call out charge etc?
I see that they use independants, what does that mean while under guarentee, do you call anyone, they come and fix it and they charge the company or what?
Sorry for all the questions but i have been burnt several times and am rather cynical these days.0 -
just about to buy one of these but have been on the web site and the ISE10 appears to have been discontinued and there's no mention of the dishwasher. Does anyone know what's happening with these machines, perhaps KWATT does?0

Very happy with our ISE10 so far.
http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/New+Appliances/ISE+Appliances/ISE1606W+ISE10+Washing+Machine+10+Year+Warranty.htmlAlthough this machine is now no longer available there is a new model of ISE10 due in early November 2010 that supersedes the 1606.
Expect a larger capacity, more features and the most advanced drum design in the world on a domestic appliance. Improved energy rating will also be a feature as well as a new control panel design with white LED indicators and a new door design with the removal of the drop-down door.0 -
Hi all,
As the title sugests I am very disapointed with my Miele Novertronic Premier 500, bought it in Nov 2005 with a 5 year parts & labour! It has died this week 5 years and three mounths old. Meile offerd a one off payment of £199 to give the washer 12 months further warenty P & L and they would send a man to fix it. He has been to look at it. The service man has told us the motor is shot and the waranty I have just paid for will not cover the cost of the repair over £500 for the motor..... the good news is Miele will refund the £199 as they do not want to cover the washer after all. When I rang Miele and pointed out that this was not a good life from the washer the service offerd me 30% off the cost of a new motor (+20% VAT + delivary not doubt). Customers cannot buy spares for the Miele from enywhere but from Miele so thay can keep the price way up. without the new motor the Miele is scrap. My best advise is do not buy this washer or any appliance from Miele...... or you could regret it.
I am now looking at spending £800 on a ISE10 instead. Has enyone had to call out service and how was the expereance for you.0 -
Haven't had to have a call out so can't help there. I have the new ISE10 (1607) which came out in November I think, I know I had to wait for it. It costs £899.99.
Just thought I'd let you know I am very happy with it and believe I made the right decision. From all the research I did I'd be very surprised if I have to have a service call any time soon but it's good to know that it's covered for 10 years.0 -
I bought an ISE AW23 in Ipswich November 2009...machine used no more than five times a week.Last night a hose burst flooding the laundry room floor. I could have spent less than £400 for this kind of lack of durability.:(0

Update to my previous posting... My ISE AW23 washing machine bought November 2009,still under guarantee. Last week the front bottom drum weight sheared off damaging a hose, flooded room. Mahine used carefully no more than 5 times a week. ISE dont have the drum parts in stock, comeing from overseas they dont know when. You can do a lot better for over £400 in terms of durability and service.0

Actually, the parts are arriving tomorrow morning and will be dispatched same day.

The ISE AW23 was repaired in less than a week. The repairer advised that most medium/low price washing machines have plastic drums and weights working lose then shearing off is not uncommon(the more expensive ISE has a stainless steel drum)usually the machine gets noisy before this happens, and can be tightened up. We do our washing at night on economy 7 so didnt hear it running;there is a dent in the front of the casing now;must have been quite a bang!. You can by a Bosch classix 1200 for just over £350 with excellent user review feedback, wish I had!0

After a lot of research we decided to buy an ISE AW23 and have lived to regret this decision ever since. It gets moderate use but has still broken down 4 times and from the sound its making at the moment failure no. 5 is imminent; this is in the space of just over 2 years and not what is to be expected from a £450 washing machine! I'm afraid that when it fails again it will be going straight to the tip (so much for ISE's green ethos) as it’ll be out of its warrantee and we can’t live with its atrocious reliability any longer.0
