What's the Northern Irish reaction to the rioting in England?

I understand that sentencing will take longer but the justice system in England does seem much more flexible than ours. I wondered whether the special court sessions were necessitated by the recent ruling on police bail in England. I don't think police bail is much used here with defendants being brought in front of Magistrates for bail hearings instead. Is that the case?
I think we also have an accomodation problem here. All our prisons are severely overcrowded. We don't have capacity for large numbers of short termers anymore. In the meantime they knocked the Maze down - seems very clever doesn't it? (not)0 -
not sure what difference there is in the procedure between England and N.I, just know the police act alot quicker ove there.0

Perhaps it's because our police regard rioting as an occupational hazard whereas it's pretty unusual in England. Not unheard of but not really as predictable as us with our marching season etc.0 -
Good to see some parents have a conscience http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23977484-justice-through-the-night-as-courts-cope-with-deluge.do

just after watching parliment and Jeffery Donaldson asked the PM if the PSNI could be of assistence to help deal with the situation. Cameron said its a different situation as the riots in England aren't political, its looting........seems if you claim your riot is political the police and government will go easier on you:huh:0

In fact the PSNI have already said they cannot spare any manpower. They have sent armoured Land Rovers and water cannon but one presumes only the men who operate those will have gone with them.0 -
I think donaldson was talking about the chiefs, who would be their advising on how to deal with the rioters. Cameron said Hugh Ord is there.0

Bad news...looting has now broke out here...Poor Paddy has just smashed his laptop screen after trying to loot ebay!:rotfl:It's a great day for singing a song / It's a great day for moving along / It's a great day for morning to night / It's a great day for everybody's plight.
Your father pedals car telephones at a 300 percent markup. Your mother works on heavy commission at a camera store. Graduated to it from espresso machines. Hah!0 -

It looks to me like there is some significant confusion as to the efficacy of the police in NI and that of the justice/legal system.
The events on the mainland should have us all standing up and applauding the PSNI who, inspite of it being a bit of a local pass time, are able to keep rioting to a very low level and keep it from affecting the vast majority of people (really, riots cause issue only for very specific areas). The mainland riots... some large cities were verging upon being shut down!Always overestimating...0
