What's the Northern Irish reaction to the rioting in England?

Me and a few mates were on our way from the Lisburn Blues Supporters Club to the camp when we saw them breaking in, we chased them and took the stuff off them and robustly informed them of the error of their ways. That was the only looting I have seen or heard of other than in a song by the Wolfetones.
The shopowner got his gear back so that's the main thing other than his window was smashed
The Blues Club? In the old Portokabin?
Ahhh - those were the days.0 -
I am very quick to respond to criticism of NI and the 'troubles' we can have. Many people see it on the news and instantly put us down as a third world country, violent and dangerous, and a very risky place to invest money. I have argued that we have our troubles, yes. However, they are fairly predictable based on time of year and can be well controlled by our (excellent) police force. We do not have the big gang issues seen in the likes of London where violence can come at any time, can happen in many areas and has been proven to involve large collateral damage (notably children being shot). These things are (apparently) not worth of consideration and not on the same scale of problem in NI. The events of the last few days have shown that they are wrong. More than that, London is showing itself to have a much greater potential for trouble. It has taken one even bring out hundreds (thousands?) of people who have no relation. They have had a sniff of the rioting and looting and they come out in larger and larger numbers having seen that the police are not having much luck stopping them. That final point is important too because the London forces are simply not trained or equipped to deal with trouble of this nature. You don't see rioting on the main streets of Belfast... the police are able to stop them and the rioters know it.
So at the end, as sad as this is, this strikes me as a kick in the back side which might knock some complacent idiots off their high horses!Always overestimating...0 -
Hmmm...true! How come they can do that here and not there? Wierd....:A
Because the ranking officer (think it would need to be a chief constable cause of the political implications) would have to resign 24 hours after he gave the order. The british government would never want to allow water cannon or plastic bullets used on the mainland.counting down the time I got left.:beer:0 -

They've set the scene for using water cannon. Permission has been given by the PM.0 -

Instead of prejudging the issue let's wait and see what happens eh?

24 hours notice before the water cannon can be used? I can see it now: -
