Hi everyone. I've read a couple of dozen posts and find myself with a big smile on my face, It's such a joy reading ones like those from Cheekyweegit and Angchris which seem so full of delight at finally tackling a long-time problem. I'm really thrilled for them and everybody else who's taken the bull by the horns.
All together now "we can do it - we will do it this time" :T
Sadly Lois I've maintained this week. I'm a bit miffed as I've done nothing untoward, but I shall stick with it and I'm sure I'll see a good result next week. There's just one thing..... I know I've not drunk as much water as usual, so I'm taking more care today. The trouble is, I never feel thirsty, so it's an effort to think about drinking. Had 4 tumblers of water so far today (about 1½ pints)so I'm on track
Madauri hope you're feeling better now, it's a pain being poorly at the weekend, you'll have to learn to time it better :rotfl:
Piixxysue you're not following a set plan are you? If you've maintained for 2 weeks you must be beginning to lose heart. Would it help if we had a look at a typical days food for you? If you don't want to do it on the board, feel free to pm me and I'll help if I can.
Well done Icebaby, Midget and Threadhead on your great losses :T
Karren when I did RC (many years ago) all I did was look at the nutritional panel on everything I bought and made sure it was less than 4% fat. It seemed to work quite well, though you do also have to beware of too much sugar. Ready meals aren't very suitable, since most of that sort of stuff is quite high in fat. It's much easier to stay within those guidelines if you cook from scratch.
Alyssa I made that soup too, it's lovely isn't it? Hope you enjoy your quiche for tea. I've got SW chips, eggs & beans in mind for us - yum!!!!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Hi all.
I have a question for you - my major weakness is that I work in an office where there are always yummy cakes/biscuits/chocolates. If they're not there, I don't want them, but as soon as they appear, I just can't resist! Do any of you have similar problems, and how do you deal with it? Please help - the christmas cake is calling me at the moment!!!! :rolleyes:0 -

another good day today for memy jeans have been held up all week with a nappy pin after having them slide off me  i went on a rummage through my old clothes and found a pair i havent been able to get my fat ar*e in for agesss and they fit  :rotfl: wooohoooooo this healthy eating malarky really does work! i also found another pair of jeans in an even smaller size tried them on and can get the button done up but not the zip so its now my mission to get my rear into those jeans if i can do that i will be over the moon :j oh commented today that my love handlebars (as he calls them! ) are slowly dissappearing and he can see im losing :j hopefully soon i should be able to stand on my scales and weigh myself as im too heavy at the mo
at least then i will be able to report back as to how much i have lost each week. i have got quite abit to lose, i`d guess about 10 stone :embarasse _pale_ but im now in it for the long haul and have got my mind in the right frame of positive thinking to hopefully shift this excess once and for all!
angchris wrote:i dont know how much i weigh or how much i have lost recently because to be honest my scales dont go up that heavy, it will be a fab day when i can finally jump on the scales and they dont groan in pain and have a readout of "error":rolleyes:
Hi angchris - I detect a serious commitment from you to do something about your weight, and you can tell how well you're doing by how loose your clothes are, but I think that when you've successfully lost lots of weight you'll regret not knowing what your starting weight was. Why don't you go to Boots - their scales go higher than bathroom scales, and they're very discreet. You don't have to make it a regular thing, but months from now you can go back and be proud to say 'I've lost x stone!'

Hi Katie
I don't have that problem where I work now (not very often anyway) but I used to work in a larger office and almost every day someone would come back from lunch with a treat of some kind, sweets, cookies, cakes etc so I know how difficult it is. I used to impress my colleagues with my iron self control, because I always resisted the temptations, although that doesn't mean I didn't want to tuck in!
If you are faced with temptation ask yourself a question - do I want the treat more than I want to be slim? Depending how you feel on any particular day you may decide the treat is more important, and if that's how you feel, that's fine. In my case I knew I'd rather be slim, and that decided me.
I know that a little of something makes me want more, however some people can stop at a little, in which case you can syn it/point it/count the calories (depending which plan you follow) and enjoy it!
There's a saying that I often use to keep me on the straight and narrow: 'Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels'.

I am very pleased to report a weight loss of 4 lb this week!! I even went back on the scales at boots to double check and yes 4 lb loss so I am chuffed!! My BMI has gone down 1 point, my waist 3", my hips 1" so it is all good....tomorrow will make 4 weeks on the diet and I have lost 8.5 lb so far...I would say to everyone please don't give up and keep going it is all worth it in the end and I am determined never to get this big again as it has been hard....
I have 20 lb to go- aiming for 2 stone weight loss but will keep breaking it down...i am going to see my family in 9 weeks time for easter, have not seen any of them since last year so hopefully will loose more and just in my mind hearing them saying...'oh you have lost weight' keeps me going xxxx
That and sheer determination to be in a flattering swim suit this summer for my hols rather than a 'dark colour' hiding behind a wrap around, not wanting to go on the beach let alone go into the water...0 -
Afternoon all

Did anyone see on BBC3 last night the prog 'fat people can't hunt'? It is really a fantastic prog about all these very overweight people that are sent out to the african outback where they cannot get to the cupboards and eat the junk they are used to and have to eat the berries, the meat from the animals they have to catch and kill themselves and the tribe that has lived like that is amongst the most healthiest, longest living tribe in the world...makes you think how we do not need all the processed food and all that choc and crisps...eat from the land and you are the healthiest person alive!!! xxx0
