hi everyone!:D would you mind if i joined in as well? i have got rather alot of weight to lose :o and would find it much easier talking to fellow "weight watchers" as theres only so much i can talk to my oh and he gets bored stiff hearing about it! i have been trying to eat healthy since the beginning of jan after seeing some horrific photos of me over xmas  the photos really did shock me into seeing how awful i looked and how everybody else must see me :o i guess it has just crept on over a period of 10/15 years due to a bad diet and not thinking twice about what i have been putting in my mouth working funny hours didnt help either and i just grabbed food on the run. now i have decided 2007 is the year i am going to sort my body out i cant go on like i am as my knees crack when i get up i am out of breath just walking and its got to the point where im scared what will happen if it gets any worse. i am now eating healthy foods and taking note of the calories going into my mouth and in just the few short weeks i have been doing this i feel better already and my jeans are sliding off. rather than going on any specific diet im doing it myself and im hoping my will power will last out! so it would be great if i could check in with you guys to keep me on the straight and narrow :j
proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance! :p

  • Hi everyone,
I have been looking over these page since beginning of January and think it is great. Would I be able to join the 2 pounds club starting tomorrow? I am 5 ft 6 in, size 16 and need to lose min 2 stone. Have 4 children and it would be too difficult to join slimming club at moment and also hard dieting alone as i love chocolate!!! It's my 30th birthday on Wednesday but confident I can still lose 2 pounds this week. I have been on Weight Watchers diet and also Slimming World diet in the past. What other diets are you all doing out there? I am thinking about just following calorie controlled diet but not too sure yet.

Welcome AngChris and freebiehunter  Of course you can join in, we've a great crowd here and theres plenty of advice and support if and when you want it. Rather than look at the total amount you need to lose break it down into smaller goals - eg to lose half a stone by end of Feb etc..

Amongst us we are following Slimming world, Weight watchers, Low Gi and calorie counting. Freebiehunter - Happy birthday for Wednesday!
  • Oh dear had a really bad few days. Couldn't get onto MSE for four days this week and really missed my fix on the boards but managed to stay on the healthy eating until Friday when my willpower seemed to desert me and hit the biscuits and the chocolate.

Really dreading WI tomorrow but know I still have to do it and try and get back on track. Was in on my own last night and after dropping off DD I stopped off at the supermarket and bought crisps, biscuits, jelly babies and chocolate rolls and then ate the lot. Cannot believe I did it and feel horrible today. Why can we have such willpower one day and then it disappear without any apparent reason?

That's it - I've admitted what I've done and hopefully I will be back on tomorrow saying I've had a better couple of days.

Going to Oz at Easter to see my sister so need to stay focussed - would really like to get down to 80 kg by then so need to lose a kg a week. No chance if I keep falling off the waggon like last night!

    Hello all!!
Sorry I haven't been around for about 2 weeks - my laptop got stolen at work and it took a while to get a new one sorted out and I have been on my travels again - Germany last week and I am now in a very cold Baltimore (arrived yesterday). Have also had some personal headaches at home making things a bit tricky - OH issues, again!!!
Anyway, I am now resolved to get on with it again and think I have lost 4lbs in January so far (not the 7 I had hoped for) - to be confirmed by WI at SW but will have to wait until I get home.
America is a nightmare for a dieting vegetarian - last night the only thing I could eat on the whole menu was potato skins and a caesar salad. Cheese on the skins and a ton of dressing on the salad - all of my colleagues had burgers and chips and they probably only ended up eating a few more calories than me! What can I eat today? This travelling lark is OK if you can eat but a flipping pain in the proverbial if you can't!
Also have jet lag and am absolutley starving at 5am! Can't win. Will be back on Friday morning but then have to go to South Wales to pick up the dog who is currently holidaying with my mum - he'll come back like a podgy pooch as my mum treats him like the grandchild I haven't provided her with!

Never mind! Will try to read all of the tons of posts I have missed over the past few weeks and get up to date with everyone.
    Have a great weekend,
    Rachel.
  • I hope everyone has had a good weekend.

Last week was my "lightbulb moment" with my weight when I weighed myself I was 13st 11lbs, a HUGE shock to me.

I was going to go to a weightwatchers/slimming world type of class but have decided against it, I spoke to my mum and she is helping me with foods and things as she did slimming world a few years ago and had the books from then.

I weighed myself this morning and I have lost 3lbs :T wasn't sure if I could manage it but I have. I have another 4lbs to lose then I can set myself another target! I decided it was easier to set myself 1 small target at a time.

Well Done Honey Gem :T see, all the hard work was worth it!

Hugs to Rachel - sorry to hear you are having OH problems again. I was actually thinking about you earlier and wondering why you hadnt posted. Your job sounds a very interesting one - I never get to go anywhere with mine. My friend travels a lot and like you, hates it! Hope you get over the jet lag soon!

Katie - put yesterday where it belongs ---in the past and start afresh from today. Don't let one bad day ruin your weight loss - we all have bad days so dont get too hung up about it. The trip to Oz sounds like a great motivation for losing weight, keep focussed on that.

Lol KatiePC, not hell, but heart-burn after that rich pud! Asking for the recipe suggests you may be thinking of re-creating it at home?? It might be possible if you used a HE of cheese, synned the biscuit and used quark sweetened with Splenda........Hmm, might even try that myself!

Welcome to angchris and freebiehunter. Isn't it a relief when you finally make the commitment to losing the weight that dogged you for years? Of course the hardest part is keeping up that motivation, and that's where the rest of us come in. If you feel the urge to binge, pop on here and talk about it instead - surprisingly it often works (well, it does for me anyway). When I get desperate for chocolate I usually find a chocolate Options hits the spot and it's only 2 syns (40 calories).

In order to be a successful slimmer, you need to find ways of incorporating the things you love into your plan or it won't last long - moderation in all things (as my Mum always says) and planning are the key to long-term success.

ThriftyK use that pig-out (if you'll pardon the expression, lol) as a learning experience. If you can avoid buying it, there's no way you can eat it. Try not to shop when you're hungry. It's much easier if you're not tempted in the first place, than it is to have to resist the temptation.

Delly, (((hugs))) for DS, bless him! Sorry to hear about your gallstones/ Wasn't it Rosemary Conley who devised her slimming plan as a result of gallstones? She refused the operation and more or less cured herself with a very low-fat diet. Good luck anyway. I understand they can be very painful.

Welcome back Rachelmk. A 4lb loss is good even if you missed your personal target by a wee bit. It's a bummer about your laptop, pity it wasn't rigged to explode when the wrong person opened it up :rotfl:
Your travels do sound exciting, but it must be much harder to eat healthily when your body clock is all to pot. Hopefully, you'll be able to get back on track now.

Well done honeygem, and you're right, small targets are much easier to keep within sight.

Here's the recipe for a favourite, quick and easy pud..........and if you wish, you can eat it all yourself:-

Pink Pudding (Only 2 syns for the WHOLE LOT)

    2 tubs quark
1 sachet sugar free jelly, preferably raspberry
    ¼ pt boiling water
1 bag frozen raspberries, defrosted (approx 400g)
    2 tbsp Splenda

Put the Quark and splenda in a bowl. Make up the jelly with ¼ pt boiling water and add to the quark. Mix well using a stick blender if possible.
Fold in the raspberries with a metal spoon then put into serving bowls and chill until set.

You can, of course use a different flavour jelly with other fruit if you prefer. I also like a lemon jelly with satsuma segments.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • I have my weigh in on sunday morning - just for ease and I've not lost anything this week - still 11st 5lbs :-( - but I can now do 50 sit ups with the ab trainer in one setting so theres the positive side - more walking and stepping to be done this week

Wow what a lot of posts, welcome all newbie I am sure you will find the support you need here and it is also a brilliant place to moan.
I played golf today, 4 hours walking in the cold so must be good for you. My back is so stiff though even after a bath. Must get to the gym tomorrow to strecht out.
Rachelmk nice that you are back, I agree about the travelling can be a nightmare. I know I am lucky I only get to go around the UK but my downfall is being bored and alone in a hotel I feel like a treat. It is the same when Im in the car.
All your puddings sounds lovely, I am not really a huge fan of puddings unless they are homemade which helps when eating out. I do however love cheese and biscuits. Cooking a roast chicken in the oven at the moment. Just burned my hand which is so stupid. OH wants chips with his and I know I wont be able to resist as I make them myself in the deepfat fryer. I did try the SW last week but I managed to burn them and they did not really taste very nice.
Made a lovely Irish Stew in the slowcooker yesterday. Used Shin of lamb really taste but a bit fatty I think compared to other cuts of lamb.
Anyway this is getting too long and I must check the chicken. Just listed 10 bottles of perfume and other beauty products on Ebay, I am allergic to most perfumes but people keep buying them for me so now they have to go. Interesting to see what they make.
Take care all and good luck for anyone WI tomorrow.
