Thank you very much - I am hoping for another 2 pounds! Does anyone know if you can swop your sins around?
For instance if I have only 5 on Monday could I have 15 on Tuesday?
    Thanks in advance

Wow, what a lot of posts in just 24 hours!!

Well done Retiredlady on your loss, what a great start. Yes you can jiggle your syns if you wish, as long as you don't save them all up for a weekend binge. I often advise people to look at them over a week (70ish) and balance them out to suit yourself.

BJ I wouldn't really advise buying the books on eBay as they really can be a rip-off. I've seen them go for over £30 for the newer books and they're under a tenner when you join a class!
    Synopsis of Food Optimising:-
One diet with 4 plans (2 of which you don't need to worry about until much later).

The Green plan is based around carbs - potatoes, pasta, rice, pulses and lentils etc. These are green day free food and need not be weighed or measured.

The Red plan is based around meat and fish (including bacon but excluding all fat and skin). These are red day free food and need not be weighed or measured.

Every day you choose 4 healthy extras - 2 from the lists of calcium providing foods (milk and cheese) and 2 from other healthy foods (including fibrous things).

After that you get syns to 'spend' on treats like chocolate, wine etc.

I would honestly recommend you to join a group even if it's only to get the books. The magazine is also 95p less in group and all the cook books are about a third off shop prices. If you never went again after the first class you'd still benefit from the introductory talk. If you do decide to go to eBay, don't bother with the new red/purple books, the older blue one is just as good and will probably be considerably cheaper.

Piixxie Mix2Max is not as complicated as it first appears, but there are certain rules which apply.
Each meal you choose whether to have red or green (eg red breakfast, green lunch, red dinner). Every day have your healthy extras as normal and also have your syns (5-15 a day).
    BUT
On a Mix2Max day, everything you eat, apart from your main courses that isn't a Superfree food or a Healthy Extra has syns. If the food you choose (between meals) has a higher Syn value on one choice than the other you should count the higher Syn value.
If your main course contains any syns, count the Syn values appropriate to the Green or Original choice you've been following for that meal.
Hope that helps to clear it up!

My daughter gets married on June 30th, so I have to get stuck in and not deviate from the plan too often. I don't want to buy an outfit till nearer to the date so I know what size to get, but I'm scared to leave it too late then be stuck with nothing I like.

Lois, thanks and I really like my new name, Connie I shall be, lol.

I noticed down the posts somewhere, somebody said they'd had fish, SW chips and beans for tea - well, great minds and all that. We had fish, SW wedges and mushy peas. It was yummy and once again I think, thank heavens for Slimming World, where else can you have fish chips and peas and know you'll still lose weight :j

    Fitness Program For Dog Owners

You've seen those ads on TV promising amazing results from all sorts of contraptions. Well, there's no need to invest in fancy equipment. If you have (or can borrow) a dog, you have everything you need to get in shape now!!! The following exercises can be done anywhere, anytime.

Inner Thighs: Place the dog's favourite toy between thighs. Press tighter than the dog can pull. Do not attempt bare legged - dogs who favour shortcuts to success will just dig the toy out. You could be damaged.

Upper Body Strength: Lift the dog - off the couch, off the bed, out of the flowerbed. Repeat, repeat, repeat. As the dog ages, this exercise is reversed - onto the couch, onto the bed, into the car and so on.

Balance and Coordination, Exercise 1: Practice not falling when your dog bounds across the full length of the room, sails through the air, and slams both front paws into the back of your knees.

Balance and Coordination, Exercise 2: (for use with multiple dogs) Remove all dogs from lap and answer the phone before it stops ringing.

Balance and Coordination, Exercise 3: (alternate) For older dogs, attempt to cross a room without tripping over the dog. Get off your couch without crushing any part of a sleeping elderly dog.

Upper Arms: Throw the ball. Throw the squeaky toy. Throw the Frisbee. Repeat until nauseous.

Upper Arms: (alternate) Tug the rope. Tug the pull toy. Tug the sock. Repeat until your shoulder is dislocated or the dog gives up (we all know which comes first).

Hand Coordination: Remove foreign object from dog's locked jaw. This exercise is especially popular with puppy owners. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Remember, this is a timed exercise. Movements must be quick and precise (think concert pianist) to prevent trips to the vet, which only offer the minimal exercise benefit of jaw firming clenches.

Calves: After the dog has worn out the rest of your body, hang a circular toy on your ankle and let the dog tug while you tug back. WARNING: This is feasible only for those with strong bones and small dogs. Have you taken your calcium supplement today?

Calves: (alternate) Run after dog - pick any reason, there are plenty. Dogs of any size can be used for this exercise. Greyhounds are inadvisable.

Neck Muscles: Attempt to outmanoeuvre the canine tongue headed for your ear, mouth, or eyeball. This is a lifelong fitness program. A dog is never too old or too feeble to "French Kiss" you when you least expect it.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Hi Lou - Dont mean to offend but just curious - do you have a link/connection with this website - its just you have quoted it at least 3 times in the past 24 hours :D. As I said, no offence meant, I'm just nosey! Not following WW myself but had a quick look - its seems to have all the WW info there so the WW-ers followers on here may find it useful!

    LOL :rotfl:

No, no connection or link whatsoever! Just wanted to make sure it didn't get lost as this thread is so popular! I lost 3 stone on WW and it changed my life and I just want to help as many people on here as possible using WW. :o

    Evening all

Just back from dancing class - it went quite well tonight, although we spent a lot of time laughing and tripping each other up. It's a really relaxed class, not one of those where we're going to be entering competitions and wearing fancy outfits, but they have a regular social night once a month where people get a chance to practise what they've learnt. I feel quite tired, but I think that's more to do with having to concentrate on getting the steps right rather than having burnt lots of calories! I'm sure it helps though, it's another activity. :)

Interesting to see how the points are worked out on WW - according to the calculation I'd be able to have 22 points, yet according to the website that LouBlue posted I'd be on 24. I tried WW a few times and I used to find it quite demotivating that the reward for losing weight was a reduction in points so you got even less to eat!

I found it quite difficult to try to work out the points value of food that I cooked from scratch and found it easier to buy ready meals - Tesco put WW points on their low fat foods and it was far simpler to add those up than to try and work out points for a complete recipe and then decide what proportion of it I'd actually eaten. :o I'm not knocking WW, it obviously works as LouBlue can testify, but it's not for me. On the positive side, I did find their on line diary very good - once you start to build up your list of regular foods its an easy way to keep track of points.

LouBlue - what do you do at WW once you're reached target - do you still count points, and if so how does it work, do you just add a couple of points and see what happens?

BJ - just to echo what Connie said about not buying books on ebay - I saw one go for over £40, which is a ridiculous amount to pay when you can go to class once and get one for £10. The reason the books go for such a large amount is that they really are the basic information that you need to follow SW - you can find out syn values for most things, but you need to know about the healthy extras or you could be missing out, or get stuck in a rut.

Thanks for the exercise regime Connie! I'd love a dog, but DH and I made a decision not to have any pets as we both work full time. I do sometimes borrow a neighbours dog as there's something very satisfying about walking with a dog! When do you get your dog Honey?

I'm watching something on ebay at the moment (no, not a SW book!) - I'm off to see how it's going.

    Have a good day tomorrow.

Posting late - again! I barely get on the PC before Wednesday's now. I was feeling really demoralised on Monday after I weighed in and showed no loss. After a good chat with a friend (who has gained a little weight after a massive loss last year) we both decided to set a 3 week goal for ourselves in the hope it gives us added incentive. So, rather than dreading another week of Slimfast, I'm looking forward to seeing some results hopefully next Monday as a result of it.

I don't know if any of you on here have any exercise/fitness experience, but I have decided to stop the weights routine I had begun at the gym, and am concentrating totally on cardio, which equates to 40 mins less lifting weights for toning (as I'm worried it's stopping weight loss and adding muscle which weighs more than fat), and 40 mins more sweating cobs down on the bikes etc. Anyway, today I cycled 10k, rowed 2500m, walked 5k, and did 3k on the eliptical thing. Felt both cream crackered and invigorated afterwards.

My other half is doing body building, so is doing a high protein diet, focussing on exercising certain body areas at a time, and really looking into the science of weight lifting. He disagrees with me about not doing the weights, as he's convinced that more muscle will increase my metabolism. I'm just concerned that no weight loss will lead to me losing the will to continue.

    Thoughts, or experience anyone?

A friend gave me a few 24/7 Trim Herbal Supplement 'pills' after Xmas. I took one around 10.00 each day and they really worked. For once in my life I wasn't constantly hungry and thinking food. Just through not eating the junk chocolate, crisps etc but still eating sufficient I managed to loose weight. I have tried to source these but can only get the patches. Can anybody help please.

I had never seen that calculation that was posted on here previously. I only ever went on the official WW points that I was told about at the meetings and that featured in the books. It is whatever works for you really. It worked for me personally because I could still eat whatever I liked, just smaller portions, I don't do well if I'm banned to eat something.

I'm not much of a cook from scratch person so it was really easy for me, personally, not just ready made meals but anything really...as you just put the saturated fat and calories into the WW calculator I carried with me. It took me a couple of weeks to get into it, but it soon became 2nd nature. And the daily tracker/diary was VITAL! When I did it every day, I always lost weight. When I kept omitting to put the odd thing on here and there and guessed my points for the day, I hardly ever lost anything. That really works!

LouBlue - what do you do at WW once you're reached target - do you still count points, and if so how does it work, do you just add a couple of points and see what happens?

I still counted points for a little while after I reached target, I mean, it was part of my life for just over a year so it became 2nd nature, but after a while, I eased up a bit, I was so used to knowing what I could and couldn't have that I didn't need to count the points. You get used to your body and you know if you have been self-indulging, also you know all the tips and hints how to cut back that week if you have to.

I hope I have answered all your points ok. WW worked for me but obviously its not for everyone but I'm happy to answer any questions about it. :o

Hi...first time I've looked at this thread....
I have bought quite a few workout dvds recently...I'm about 2 and half stone overweight....I've had a couple of weeks of exercising and have been using the weights and lightly dieting too....but haven't lost a thing....so thing I will ditch the weight workouts and go for cadio too as after all the toning can wait just want to see some fat shifted first.
I can't say i enjoy exercising but I hate dieting more and also believe ww is a waste of time, too unrealistic..... but I have to say I really enjoyed Davina power of 3, the boxercise routine as it is a great stress buster too....:j
