  • ftbworried I'm not sure what the rules are at WW, but at SW you would need to be at least 7lb over target to join. We have lists of the absolute healthy minimum you should weigh, and would not take anyone who is as low as that. If you tell me how tall you are, I'll tell you what that figure is.
Incidentally, there are loads of recipes you may enjoy on here - follow the link in post no.1

Karren how did the weigh-in go?

Suggs glad your 1 to 1 thingy went well. Is it over for another year now?

Honey as you're so close to target, you might find Success Express handy to jog your weight loss up a bit. It's easy enough to do, but if you get stuck with it, give me a shout :D

Petrichor, thank you for those kind words (blush) :o

tinytot Are you finding it difficult to stay at your target? Could it be that you set it a little too low? A day or two on Success Express should put you back on track, or concentrate on the SS foods in your book.

We had a very busy class tonight with 11 new members - it was buzzing! I find it hard to unwind after a night like this, it's just so stimulating. I really love this job :j
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

    Hi all

Sorry, been out this evening and just having a quick catch up. Too many threads to reply too and I'm a bit [STRIKE]knack [/STRIKE]tired!

I'm out again tomorrow night - did I mention that DH and I are going to evening classes to learn ballroom and latin american dancing? - we start tomorrow and I'm hoping the extra exercise burns off a few calories and helps with the weight loss, 'cos something needs to!

Have a good day tomorrow, and I'll catch you later.

Well we are doing quite well long may the motivation last. Noticed my gym was packed on Monday must be all those new year resolutions.
cheekyweegit you are right people think because you are tall you can get away with being a bit larger. However Consultant did have a point (as always) have to make sure that we are not overdoing it. I am 6.2 and now 11.10. I have never had to diet in my whole life until 2 years ago when I noticed size 14 was too small and 16 too big  . I had put on the lot around the middle which is the worst I understand in terms of health. I lost it all before my wedding and went down to 11st. I just want to get back there and stay there so feel a bit of a fraud here when so many of you have so much to loose so thanks for putting up with me.

Today is going to be a busy day, off to a meeting in my local town then rushing to catch a train to London. Will have to get lunch on the run from Waterloo Station but will try to choose carefull. Should be back by 7 or 8 tonight so better get something out of the freezer for dinner.

Hiya I don't know if anyone is interested but you can get the Paul Mckenna techniques free from the gmtv website.
I used to eat a packet of crisps a day till I did his craving buster thing, never give them a thought now. Also gave up fags too, 8 months ago.

I know he's not everybody's cup of tea, but hey it's a freebie.

If the link doesn't work, it's pretty easy to find on GMTV

  • Thank you to everyone who made suggestions yesterday when I was feeling low.

Consultant31, yep I'm definitely 7lbs over target (if only!) - I am 5'6 and I want to be 9st 7lb (which is the weight I have been hovering around for years) but recently I have ballooned to 11st  I believe that i'm 'just' on the BMI borderline for overweight.

Anyhoo, today I am feeling MUCH better- i have motivation back again, last night i had some salad and some grilled chicken (grilled the chicken on the george foreman and the salad just came out of a bag! so that was easy enough to cook in the conservatory!) I've microwaved me a jacket potato and brought some cottage cheese to work for lunch. Think i'll be having grilled chicken and veg for tea later. So, I'm back on track- the target for this week is 2 lbs.

ftb I'm so glad you're feeling more positive - you can do this, in fact we can all do this, with a little help from our friends ;)
The minimum healthy weight for your height would be 8st 12lbs, so 9½st would look good - slim but not skinny!!

Tallgirl it doesn't matter whether you've 10 stone or ½ stone to lose, it has to be approached in the same way, and it's often harder to lose that last ½ stone, so don't feel a fraud! Incidentally, the minimum weight for your height is actually 11st 1lb, so maybe that's why you're having a tough time getting there. Perhaps it's spot reducing exercise you need rather than a diet  I know you've said you spend a lot of time travelling, and sitting in a car's the worst thing for spreading the middle!! A fun exercise for this area is a hoola-hoop. I used to be able to keep one up for hours when I was young but end up in stiches when I try to do it now (at least you get to exercise your giggling muscles, lol).
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Sorry to but in on your thread but I was looking for some support and advice. I'm not on a diet but my OH and I just decided to really cut back on the food we were eating and actually count calories for a while. My scales at home are horribly inaccurate as my floors 'move' so I can be several pounds adrift depending on which part of the boards I put the scales on...however I do use them as a rough measure of how I am doing.

I am also monitored at hospital (for other health reasons) and by co incidence on Monday this week had my height and weight recorded as well as part of my regular bone check. At Barts I show as 10stone 4 clothed and 5 ft 4 1/4 in height. I decided therefore to go to Boots today where they have proper scales and set myself a baseline weight so I could see how I was doing on a monthly basis. However I was horrified as on the Boots scales not only am I 10stone 9 clothed, but I'm only 5ft 2:eek:

So my question is has anyone else found these type of scales in shops inaccurate, and if so where do they suggest is a better place to try? Also, if they are inaccurate do they stay the same amount wrong, ie, can I use the scales just to check if I am losing any weight or do they get adjusted a lot ?

Soo (I want my 2 1/4 inches back!)
