  • Thank you SO much for all the kind words!

It's good being able to talk about it on here. I talk to my husband about it but (bless him!) he just says I have nothing to worry about and that I'm beautiful. But as every single woman who's ever dieted knows, OH comments about your appearance are rendered void when they don't change what you see in the mirror. He thinks its daft and that I am stressing myself out over nothing.
If you've got a slow-cooker, you can still cook healthy meals using meat and veg (or all veg if you prefer), and a microwave is very useful too.

yeah, I have both if these items and to be honest, its not too much of a pain to use them. My problem I have is that I literally have no food preperation surface at all (or a sink to wash up in!). I ended up having to prepare veg on plates on a table (which creates more washing!) , which i had to do in the bath!! The kitchen should take another month i think (we're doing it ourselves- nights and weekends!).

I bought some of the steamfresh veg in individual packets that you put in the microwave so they should help (no preparing!).

Right- thank you Consultant that was the kick up the jacksie that I needed, im off to write down my calories and plan my meals!!

I dont attend classes so dont have a 'plan' or any recipes. I don't know how i'd be received there to be honest as im still inside the healthy BMI range but i want to lose weight as i dont fit into my old size 10-12 clothes anymore, would they turn me away?
  • lo everyone, the weight los chart looks v impressive!
FTB - i know EXACTLY how you feel. This time last year I was my best friend's bridesmaid. She's a perfect size8 with Nancy Drew red showstopping hair and loked absolutely stunning. I on the other hand despite externally vowing to lose weight for hte wedding, internally wrote myself off believing that i would look like a troll no matter what and gained weight. I really regret it too, I very rarely get a chance to dress up and instead of enjoying the day I spent most of it wishing i wasn't so overweight, especially when the photographer arrived. I still can't bear to look at the photos. First off, forget about the other bridesmaid - frankly if she's a superfit size six any sort of bridesmaid gown isn't likely to flatter such an athletic figure. As consultant has said, a steady 1-2 lbs a week is totally achievable but you need to ditch the takeaways. As someone else already said, get hte microwave plugged in in the living room. You can have lots of healthy foods using just the microwave that need little prep - if you're doing slimming world you can microwave fresh pasta, supernoodles, savoury rice etc. If you can afford it, buy microwaveable healthy ready meals - at least they'll be totally calorie counted for you. Don't give up and don't beat yourself up. I'm the world's worst comfort eater and if it's there I'll scoff it. Maybe you can talk to your mum about how you are feeling and ask her to help you with some healthy meals when you visit? sorry for the length of the post but yours really struck a chord with me and I really felt like I wanted to offer my support.

Suggs - i had a similar experience - in my case it all semed to go well and the week after they got rid of me. I'd only been with the company 8 months at the time so i had no redress whatsoever. Hence 1-to-1s scare the bejesus out of me as a result. I'm glad it went well for you, sounds like everything is on a roll for you this year!
  • Hi everyone

I posted a little while back to say I was hoping to start calorie counting (it works easiest for me!) and I started on 9th January. My start weight was 10 stone 11 and I'm gonna weigh myself each Friday. I had my first weigh in last Friday and I'm down to 10 stone 8 already. My goal weight is about 8 and a half stone (I'm only 5 foot 2!!) so I am viewing it as a long term plan and hope to achieve the loss by June.

Thanks to everyone for all their kind encouraging words - even those directed to others are encouraging to all of us.

Driving home from work yesterday was thinking how light it was for 5.30 - summer is coming :-) which gives me more motivation!!

    Anyone else calorie counting?

FTB - :T:T:T Good for you, Pick yourself up and start day one today. You ca do it! I know how you feel on the bridesmaid front - I am bridesmaid twice this year, both brides are approx size 8 (if even) and I already feel very self conscious about it. We can do this together!

Suggs - glad the review went well. Its easy to get worked up about things so you can relax now!

The meal turned out ok. I ended up putting it into a pan and reduced it down. It was lovely and OH is away to work with the leftovers! Might try something else out in the slow cooker. I just panic that I will come home to a burnt down house :rotfl:

Honey I thought exactly the same as you, what if it burns down the house. I have now done 3 things in it and absolutely love it. I am still only working to the recipies in the booklet but I might try something else soon. My problem is DH does not like veg so it usually has to be hidden or we can only have carrots, peas and potatoes which is boring. I did slip some parsnips in the Irsih Stew and some swede in the minestroni and he ate it.
ftbworried can imagine how annoying it must be to diet and not have a kitchen. If you do make the effort to chop everything up and use the slow cooker you will have a huge batch and could freeze and then it only needs a minute in the micro. Otherwise how about borrowing your mums kitchen and batch cook over there ready to freeze things. I.
Still trying to get some work done but would rather be on here.

Honey28 I thought the same aswell about slow cookers, so I put mine on overnight in the week (cheaper on the elec too!) and take it for lunch to work. Then at weekends I use it through the day whilst I'm there. I'm sure they are fine tho.
Lois - Thanks for adding me to the weight chart. I forgot to mention my target for this month was 7lb (and I'll shall increase it by 7lb each month)
Well done to everyone last week, all the best for this week xx

Hiya folks and well done to you all who have lost, and those of you who haven't don't worry and just start again at day 1. I've been there many times before, and alas the previous day has usually resulted in mass amounts of guilt followed by reaching for copious quantities of chocolate for that brief feel good factor to console myself followed very quickly again by the guilt!

I've been busy the last few days with being back at uni, so unable to report, but after eating like a pig at pizza hut for my son's 15th birthday on the 6th and playing what I felt like catch up all week with my points, I managed to lose 1.5lbs on Saturday so I'm really pleased. Only 2.5lbs to go and that's 2.5st I'll have lost. Only another 3.5 maybe 4 to go after this. So slow and steady is my motto, and to help me along the way I write everything down I eat and point it in an A4 Pukka jotter (reduced in Tesco to 84p) and at the end of the week I write how I feel I've done and any mistakes I've made so to speak, or improvements. I top this up on a Saturday after I've been weighed as it confirms if I've been good / bad / indifferent and add any changes I want to make the following week, or even use it to pick up on things which are clearly not worth their points value!

A good example of this was the so called turkey salad I ordered at uni, the healthy choice I thought, NO NO NO, it came with lovely tomatoes, peppers, cucumber and lettuce, ok so far....................... but a mountain of cheese and huge dollop of creamy coleslaw! I worked out the points as best I could and I reckon I'd have been better with a white pudding supper from the chippy! or even 3 bars of dairy milk! Yes it was that bad, and although tasty, kinda shows you salad isn't always the best option to chose when eating out. My salad at lunchtime yesterday took me well over my points for the day - thank god for the free farting soup ( yes it was me who started that one off - not literally though).

do you get a lot of folks saying to you - but you don't look (insert weight) but your tall and can carry it? It drives me nuts as I'm 5ft 10 and get this a lot.

Petricor & jmf76- well done on your first of many losses - its a great feeling isn't it?

Pariskate - do you and everyone else know www.google.co.uk has a converter built into it? You just need to type into the search box 800g into pounds and it gives you the conversion 800 grams = 1.7636981 pounds.

    - It's so sweet your love birds laying an egg - you must keep us posted on that one.

Consultant31 - I've lost a few epic threads too, MSE boots you out after a certain length of time, not sure how much so I have started to copy my work before posting "just in case".

    ftbworried -
just dust yourself off and start again, but don't let your building work be an excuse, it's all too easy to find excuses to put yourself off, and harder to find reasons to motivate yourself again at times. You can do this!

Suggs - I'm glad all went well with the 1 - 1, my thoughts were with you.

Finally after my marathon post a wee suggestion - In the top of each post beside the icon I think it would be a good idea if everyone put which ever plan they were following in there like I have done just now. This way it's easy to identify someone doing the same plan as you and if you need hints or tips on this plan or even more recipe ideas you know who you can ask so to speak for those.

Keep up the good work everyone - waffle now over and AVOID SALADS AT ALL COSTS WHEN EATING OUT OR AT LEAST CHECK THE CONTENTS BEFORE ORDERING!!!!!

RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
