I haven't been that good today - not really bad, but not that good. Luckily my portion control heathly eating habit seems to have shrunk my stomach, so I can't eat a lot of rubbish. I hope everyone else is doing better than I am.
redpoisen I had never heard of the sacred heart diet, so looked it up. It's not much different to what I eat anyway, but they have certain food types on different days? I love fruit/green vegtables/vegtable soup and chicken though.:D Not sure if I could keep to that diet, as once I am told I can't have something, then I really want it:o Hence why I favour the WW No count, as nothing I like is banned for the day. I might try Sacred Heart for the first three days though as I think I could manage 3 days of yummy fruit, vegtables and soup. Can't do it tomorrow though as I have already bought the salmon and spinnach for tomorrow nights dinner (was going to be tonights dinner, but I am too full).
Hello to all the new people that have posted since I last did.
MissMPRENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
Read the sticky on the House Buying, Renting & Selling board.0 -
Thanks redpoison I think I'll give it a miss - can't see the point in weight loss if it's not associated with inch loss! Good luck with it tho ...If you don't have anything nice (or constructive) to say... DON'T SAY IT!0

Catmeister it's not rocket science, but can seem like it when you see the amounts people can eat and still lose weight.
Contrary to what someone else said, it has nothing to do with food combining and is a very simple but well thought out plan. SW have a nutritionist on staff who works out all the plans, syn values etc so that the member is getting everything they need to be healthy while they lose excess weight.
Food Optimising is fit to use for all ages, so it's obviously based on sound nutritional principles.
Whereas the type of food you were eating before was probably packed with a huge number of calories into a small amount of food, by changing the type of food you eat, it usually means that you consume far more food for far less calories. The type of food encouraged by a healthy eating plan such as SW has more value in terms of satisfying your hunger for longer.
Research has shown that people on calorie controlled diets eventually lose more weight by eating 1800 cals a day than those trying to exist on 1000 cals a day. The main reason being, that because it is easier, the slimmer is more likely to stick with the programme longer term, and there is less cheating.
Also when you decrease your food levels too much, your metabolic rate may decrease, which has the unfortunate effect of slowing down the weight loss all together.
Food combining is about not mixing starch and protein at the same meal, but most basic food contains both these nutrients, so it's almost impossible to achieve. They also tell you not to eat fruit with meals, but fruit is one of the healthiest things you can eat.
Slimming World encourage balanced meals, ie. protein with carbs and a sprinkling of Healthy Extras and eventually this "loose corset" type of slimming helps you to eat less than you may have done in the beginning, when lots of members push the boundaries of the plan, trying to prove it doesn't work.
To be honest, I usually tell my members not to wory about how it works, just trust (and be grateful) that it does, brilliantly!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I wish I was a member at your class consultant, they must leave well informed, with a fountain of new knowledge every week. I only learnt on Monday night that Syn, is short for synergy and I've been going for a year. Doh!
The chicken was lovely, I weighed it all out :A and had it as a healthy extra B, along with some mushroom, pea and egg fried rice. Lovely, and I couldnt manange the whole vat of rice that I made so that's tomorrows lunch sorted.0 -
consultant31 I have viewed some of the SW recipes via the earlier link and note that sometimes there is not a specified quantity of some ingredients.
I like the idea of the Winter Stew & Dumplings recipe but there isn't a weight shown for potatoes, parsnips etc and that for the dumplings it specifies 2 or 3eggs. Obviously this could give quite a difference in the calorie count.Could you please explain this to me?
Sorry if you've gone through this before, but this particular recipe is one that sounds really delicious and if the quantities are left to me ...well... you know..;)
ThanksI wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

That's because on a Green day those items are free food, so you can eat as much as you like - brilliant isn't it????
Forget calories if you're doing SW, trust the plan.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
cosultant31can I just but in here? My prob is the hunger, not sticking to it, there is a huge amount of determination and willpower but the hunger is putting me off so much everyone looks like a cream cake!!
I am not on SW just cutting back on everything and weighing portions, no crisps, chocs etc etc but so far since last monday lost nothing, hungry and disheartened!! xx0 -
Hi second day on the rosemary conley day, and getting into it I had bread and honey and apple for breakfast, soup for lunch and then a fab feast for tea, prawna nd pasta done in a yogurt and tom sauce and huge salad, and though not meant to had a banana as hungry so I hope that tom goes well too, only did so well as I went to read the fly lady challenge and was motivated to clean the house! I really hope Im good later and dont scoff any chocolate! night night.:A :j0

Hi. Not been on here for a few days and think maybe I should try and get on every day to keep me motivated. I only lost half a kilo this week (just over a pound) and felt disappointed which is a bit silly when I lost so much last week. However, I know I wasn't as good as I could have been and had two 'chocolate days' and a very alcoholic Saturday evening. Thinking about it, it's probably only the fact that I've made the gym every day that means I lost anything at all rather than put it on.... emmmm maybe should post here daily as typing seems to get me thinking!
Got a vegetable curry on the go in the slow cooker which will do for the next few days lunch with either a small naan or a bit of boiled rice, and it's jacket potatoes this evening so hopefully that will get me back on track again. A bit early to be going off track really - usually manage a month or so before I fall off the wagon!
Great reading all your posts - it reallly does help.Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -

I'm sorry you're hungry all the time, 'cos it's really not necessary. You're probably cutting back too far and it's self-defeating. Your body will think there's a famine and hang on to every calorie you consume and your metabolism will slow right down, making it even harder to lose weight.
Is there a SW class near you? If there is I would certainly recommend it. I know I'm biased, but I've done every diet known to mankind and it's the only one I can live with forever.
You need to eat lots of foods with low fat and low sugar. Don't let people tell you potatoes are fattening, they're not - it's what you add to them that makes them undesirable to a slimmer.
Take a look at some of the recipes on here (follow the link on post 1) and see what lovely things you can eat.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0
