  • Reading about all your gym and swimming activities really motivate me, so I think this weekend is going to be the one! Ran nearly all the way to work, which was a real achievment as it's gale force winds here this morning!

Suggs sorry - didn't mean to make you feel like your slimming/exercise was too superhuman - just very impressed! I'm a terrible swimmer, and find that just ten laps make me rather rosy, and 20 leaves me flat on the floor! (Granted my pool is longer - I think about 18m but still!) However I have been motivated by you and Honey2B to actually sort out some lessons so I can fly through the water! (Being able to breathe would be a start!) So :T to both of you for leading by such excellent example! :T :T

Inspired also by Poppielia - if you usually lose 7lbs first week on SW it must be amazing! Just been a bit suspicious of the eggs, beans and chips eating allowed - yes consultant I hear what you're saying about it being important not to confuse your body into entering starvation mode, but what about all the grease? Anyway, will be checking out SW site today - hopefully they'll be some answers about how the plans work - otherwise I know where to come with questions!

Finally, FTB have you thought about investing in a slow cooker? Argos are selling one for £8.99 which has had mixed reviews, but recommended by some on the slow cooker thread... (posts near bottom of page) - for that price it's a bargain no matter what! :D

Right off to investigate swim lessons and SW - thanks everyone for making this such an interesting, informative and motivational thread!::j :j :j

Ah, sorry to confuse you - no grease involved at all!!

SW chips are made by slicing your potatoes into chip shapes (leave skin on for fibre if poss). Par-boil for 5 mins, drain, return to the pan and give them a good shake to 'rough up' the edges. Liberally spay a bakng sheet with Frylight, lay the chips on in a single layer, spray again (sprinkle on flavourings at this point if you wish). Pop them in a medium hot oven, near the top, for about 40 mins - deeeelish!!!
Eggs - crack into a heavy based frying pan, spray with frylight and cook till set.
Beans, of course, are fat free anyway.

Shopaholictiedtheknot is that you Bride2Be? :rotfl:
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • Well had a look at SW site (including reading every faq) and can't find out any info on how or why the diet actually works? Can somebody please enlighten me?

Hi Tinytot - welcome to the thread! Sorry we missed you there!
Catmeister - the chips eggs and beans isnt greasy. You make the fried egg in fry light so its a free food choice. The chips are made by peeling and slicing potatoes into chips, parboiling for about 5mins. Lay on baking tray and spray with fry light. Cook in a very hot oven for approx 20mins or until browned. Absolutely delicious, honestly! The baked beans are also a free food on a green SW day too, so all in all a filling, tasty free meal.
I had it last night ;)

I can't I'm afraid but I would recommend checking out Rosemary conley (I go to these classes).
It's GI, calories counted, low fat and promotes exercise.
So as far as I can tell it solidly based on good health and nutrition.

The instructors I've had have been very helpful and some of them inspirational.
There are a lot of "extra" things they do to help you outside of the standard classes like emails, recipes, postcards etc.

I have no connection with them except being a satisfied participant.

I would not say it's the easiest or simplest diet to do but I would definitely say it's based on sound principles as far as health and nutrition goes.

I have had a lot more people say to me "You look great" rather than "You've lost weight" because the healthy diet gives you clear skin and shiny hair etc.
Some people have said I look 15 years younger (I'm only 38).
I have picture of me at 22 and I look better now.

It sounds to me a teeny bit similar to the Hay diet - which is mainly about food combining. Just a guess though - try googling for how this works

Catmeister, I started swimming as I had a knee operation in Novemeber and didnt want to stop this exercise. In short I worry that if I stop, I stop exercise for good :(

My first few attempts were not great, managed 10 lengths and stopped, then started. I hadnt swam really since school.

It took a couple of weeks to get to get to 60 lengths and now I aim for 100 lengths (800 metres) but normally stop for a breather around 60/70 lengths

Im not very elegent (In my minds eye!) and I am not very quick, about 20-30 secs a length. I do use breaststroke, full arm back to chest level. I also dont kick off from the wall.

Breathing? I cant co-ordinate enough to breathe under water :( would love to swim elegently. So good luck on your lessons, let me know how you get on.
