    Evening All,
Just reporting in (on time for a change!) and here are the votes from the cusp of Linconlshire: 2lb loss this week. All going in the right direction, although with the sweat I'm losing in the gym I do feel it should be a stone a week!!

Honey28, quote: I'm not huge, but I do need to lose some more weight and get rid of my "baby belly" - bear in mind my youngest is 4 :rotfl: How do I get rid of the flabby bit?! Some say situps some say cardio exercise?? I have joined a gym with my OH, which I was rather scared about doing (especially when I thought everyone would look like Princess Di in lycra and stick thin) but I couldn't have been more wrong; most are 40+, quite a few retired, all look normal and not very fit, but all are enthusiastic and supportive. The advice offered by the staff is great, I do 45mins of cardio, plus 30 mins of weights, and today I did a 30 min abs class that's all included in my membership. I can go swimming as much as I want, I can do any fitness class offered, and all for just £22 a month (I'm eating less so spend less on food anyway)! I'm convinced by doing the exercise and weights I've toned up no end. I've lost 4" off my hips, 4" off my bust, and 2" off my waist already. My fitness level has definitely increased, and today I even had a mad thought about attempting to jog on the treadmill (steady now, I thought, let's not run before I can walk)! I can row 2800m in 15 mins, cycle 3.5km in 10 mins as an average, and I've already put my resistence levels up by 3 in 5 weeks. If I can do it anyone can. I didn't even run at school and I'm 40 now. The most unlikely part of it all is that for the first couple of weeks I almost dreaded going as I knew I was going to have to work hard, but this weekend I couldn't wait for Monday morning to arrive so that I could go. I do 3 mornings a week at the moment, but I'm trying to work out whether I can fit in an evening too.

Catmeister thanks for the vote of confidence! Indeed the Lighterlife plan is certainly not for the faint hearted, but as you can see by the example of my friend, it can certainly work. Colleen Nolan from ITV's Loose Women programme has also been on it. I double checked some info from my friend too; anyone entering into the programme has to have a BMI of 30+, they undertake to have counselling sessions regarding eating habits/disorders (you don't get your weekly rations without apparently) because it is clearly overeating/binge eating/comfort/emotional eating etc. that could be a route cause - my friend was a fully paid up member of Overeaters Anonymous! They give exercise equipment and videos out every week or so at the meetings, and once you finish the 100 day plan of meal replacements, there is a strict 'healthy eating plan' to reintroduce you to eating again, but making sure you have a healthy balanced diet in future. It is meant to be a re-evaluation of your eating habits, and then changing them for life (hence withdrawing from eating normal food for the 100 days).

I hope that clarifies things a bit. Like I said before, I wasn't exactly advocating it, but as with any eating plan like SW or WW (both of which I've done, along with many others) some work better for some than others.

Oh, and as for the survey, here's my contribution:

How often do you all weigh yourselves?
WI is Monday, 1st thing, but I have at least 1 sneaky peek around Thur/Fri to see how I'm doing - generally if I've not lost anything by then I really go for it over the w/end - keeps me on the straight and narrow.

How much weight do you have to lose?
Having checked online for my ideal weight, apparently I have another 3 stone to go! EEEEK! Last weighed that aged 24 on my wedding day - ho hum, onwards and upwards.

How much weight have you lost?
    19lbs since last September - 12lb since 1 Jan '07

    How tall are you?
Very short - 5' 1" if I stick my neck up like a giraffe! 5' if I'm honest.

What one food do you think is your dieting saviour?
Slimfast meal bars, the peanut caramel snacks, and the pretzel snacks. Keep me full, taste yummy.

How much water do you drink a day?
1-2 litres of fresh water, plus lots of decaf coffee and tea (in the region of 8 a day).

Well done to everyone for sticking with their plans. For all those feeling miffed at maintaining or maybe gaining a half pound or so this week - do keep trying. I had 2 weeks of lots of effort and no loss and I felt pants. My response was to increase my exercise effort, and now I've had a couple or so weeks of steady loss.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

  • a gain of 1.2kg this week unfortunately. Back to the gym for me! I'll get over it. Think I've gotten too used to eating convenience food - best stop with the fat free super noodles and start making pasta salads with real veggies again. Well done everyone - sary, those inch losses are truly amazing. I really wish i could like the gym but I just find it so dull. Still come summer I'll lose some weight chasing sweaty men around battlefields so that will help.

    1/2 stone

Quorn. It allows me to put lots of bolognese in my pasta and rice.

How much water do you drink a day?
I aim to drink 2 litres a day. I hope coffee, tea, herbal teas and squash count.

My pledge for this month is to stay alive, stay alive, argh, argh, argh, argh, stay aliiiiiiive!
I'm dead tired (but reasonably happy -much better than two weeks ago, when I was very depressed).
I've maintained this week. On the positive side, well, I'm positive I've lost a couple of cms in hips, bust and waist. Not too bad.

I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • 1lb for me - so pooh, I only lost 6lb towards the 7lb challange.:D

Well done to all the losers and maintainers.:T

I don't know how those of you who drive miles every week for work, manange. I set off early this morning and got back late. I was prepared for the munchies with my bootles of water, apples, homemade vegetable soup and chicken salad. So what did I do? I decided to get winegums, BLT sandwich and a snicker (which made me feel ill, but I managed to force it in).:D I haven't even been able to walk my 9 miles today either! I had my soup when I got home and it was much tastier than the BLT sandwich. I should really do some skipping now, but that will take too much effort tonight.:D I'll step up the exercise tomorrow and watch what I eat for the rest of the week.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

I'll join you too. I'll force myself to get on the exercise bike for 10 minutes every day and I'll take my new skipping rope off the hook and finally use it.:D Is that 5lb by 5th March (4 weeks)?

Hiya everyone, here's my contribution to the survey to start with:-

How often do you all weigh yourselves?

Saturday a.m. at WW but weigh myself in nude after a wee before I go and erm once or four times during the week, but trying to wean myself off this.

How much weight do you have to lose?

    Between 6st and 6 ½ st.

How much weight have you lost?

2 ½ st so far or rather 36lbs

    How tall are you?

    Pretty tall at 5ft 10ins

What one food do you think is your dieting saviour?

Free farting soup, and WW caramints although any sweet you can sook would probably do. I have a packed of these open which I never count and pop one in the mouth, by time I’ve finished it any cravings have usually passed and I rarely eat more than ½ a packet a week hence the not bothering to count.

How much water do you drink a day?

Not nearly enough, I drink peppermint tea, the odd glass of tap water, fizzy water and when I’m at uni either a diet fizzy drink or a bottle of say oasis juice or flavoured water.

Samcantcope – that’s an amazing loss, well done and enjoy the high you are most likely on right now! Your hubby too.

Ftbworried – a lb is a step in the right direction, to quote Mr T “every little helps and quite often I’ve only lost a lb and yes been a little disappointed especially when I’ve been perfect in my eyes, but when I’ve calmed down I think well it’s another off and another step closer and it’s not a gain this week, so please think positively about your lb, even if you stay the same it shows you are capable of maintaining your weight.

Honey28 – with 3 sons I can sympathise with the manful thing. I will say no more!!!!!

Edimew – you did well on holiday losing, one girl in our class was away to Tenerife for a week and put on 10lbs. I was shocked, and she said she did loads of exercise too but ate and ate and ate.

On the exercise front, I’ve plucked up the courage and I’m going to join the gym tomorrow as I’ve now lost 2 ½ st and although I’ve still got roughly 3 ½ to 4st to lose I thought if I started the gym now it will hopefully help me lose weight and more importantly tone up as I go as with so much to lose I’m genuinely worried about the condition of my skin at the end. (I fully understand the baby belly thing but my youngest is now 13 – what excuse sorry reason do I have other than he was 10lb 1 ½ oz and premature?) Does anyone else with a biggish loss feel the same way or have I watched one too many 10 years younger bikini specials ? (Roughly 2 I’ve watched but I think it might have been 2 too many and I’m wondering if needbe what my chances are of a tummy tuck on the nhs at the end of my journey? ).

Those of you who have gained, don’t worry about it as long as you don’t let the guilt get to you like I used to, and start pigging out again – many of us will know the vicious circle of being good, slipping a bit, feeling guilty but punishing ourselves for doing so by pigging out again and saying we shall start again tomorrow, slipping / guilt / slipping / guilt / starting / GIVING UP!!!! DON’T GIVE UP WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER!!!

Oh and my weight loss this week was 1 ½lbs. But the disappointment this week was the WW scales weighed me heavier than my own scales by ¼ lb. Darn me for forgetting to take my mobile out of my pocket before getting weighed. This sad git, weight the mobile when she got home and guess what ¼ lb – you guessed it!

But there is more good news – I’m not longer morbidly obese, not even obese, just overweight now according to my BMI. To some this might seem a silly statement, but to me it was a huge thing (pardon the pun) and I can’t wait to get to my 3st loss as it will seem as if I am half way there and on the homeward straight so to speak although realistically I know I’ve still got a fair way to go. But, yes another one, I’ve started wearing jeans again rather than tatty joggers, this in itself has boosted my self esteem no end and my kids say I look happier, thinner and am apparently fairing well considering I will be 39 on Saturday.

BARGAIN ALERT FOR BODY FAT SCALES

I’ll say no more other than tonight I picked up a set of Hanson body fat analyzer scales, model number HFA 2 from Tesco reduced from £24.92 down to £6.23 so those of you with dodgy scales it might be worth a look in your local. They hold the details for 4 people and have a 2 year guarantee.

Good luck to all for the coming week.
