  • Hi I'm travelling from Liverpool to London tomorrow.

    I have a £7 single from Liverpool - Stafford (arriving at stafford at 16:35)
    and an £18 return from Stafford - Euston

    but that stafford train leaves the station at 16:21 so obviously it's two different trains.

    Am I ok to do this as I have tickets to cover all legs of the journey? or am I getting confused?
    I am about to book tickets now could you let me know asap thanks!

    You could try getting an off peak day return to Birmingham and then cheap singles each way (or another off peak day return if that doesn't work)
  • If going to Shropshire towns/villages, try splitting at Shrewsbury - it might take say 20 mins longer but I save about £6 (after railcard 33% off) when I go via shrewsbury (arriva trains wales) rather than Wolverhampton. And Shrewsbury is much more hospitable late night!

    I never thought this split ticketing malarky worked, but....

    Im going Bournemouth-Preston next Saturday, direct fare (no railcard) 45.50.

    By splitting at London (which I would have to have done anyway) and Manchester, £29.50!! Bit of a difference. Thanks MSE'rs - more booze for me :beer:

    I have to go to Northampton from Manchester at 2 days notice, by splitting the route I have a found a quicker and cheaper fare in fact I get first class fare for less than standard if I had just hit the buy button on the first thing trainline showed me.

    My route takes me via Birmingham standard service is Milton Keynes and then back to Northhampton cost of £61 for standard service my route is £49.40 inc insurance and booking fee it's First class so I get hot drinks etc on the way. It's still one change so no more of a faff and I am going to be able to work on the way as I have booked a power point seat in a quiet coach.

    2 adults traveling 4/4/09 returning 5/4/09. Change trains at Manchester Piccadilly. Standard off peak return £94.20.

    Split ticket purchase as follows:
    Stafford to Manchester Piccaddilly £20 return using advance single tickets.
    Manchester Piccadilly to York £40 return using advance single tickets

    Saving = £34.20

    I found the best prices on the Crosscountry website :j
  • Help. We are trying to go from Worcester to Glasgow for a long weekend sometime this spring, but the cheapest fares we can find are over £110 smackeroos. We've tried splitting the journey, eg worcs to brum, brum to preston, preston to glasgow, and cant find any cheaper journey. Any ideas anyone, please?
