£14 with NXEC, no split, 4h30m travel time

And a bargain berth on the Caledonian Sleeper can cost as little as £19 - again no splits
  • Sheffield To Cromer outward 20th August return 25th August (bank holiday)

    RAIL EASY RETURN £89.50

    NATIONAL RAIL SINGLES £ 44.40

    20th Single Sheffield to Norwich ~ £13.00
    25th Single Norwich to Sheffield ~ £21.00
Norwich to Cromer ~ £10.40 (£5.20 each way)

    SAME TRAINS ~ SAME TIMES

I go every year and this is the cheapest I have had this fare in 5 years
  • Seconding what another user has said about splitting at Wolverhampton ;

    Cheltenham > Edinburgh £97 Single

But by splitting at Wolverhampton :
    Cheltenham > Wolverhampton £7
    Wolverhampton > Edinburgh £18

    So £25 versus £97 - ** a big saving of £72 **

    Yes but:

How about Cheltenham - Edinburgh £15.50? OK no availability maybe but it's always worth checking advance singles for the complete journey before resorting to splitting.
  • I'd greatly appreciate some help finding a cheap fare from York to Canterbury! 2 adults need to travel either on the afternoon/evening of 22nd August or on the morning of 23rd and return on 24th August to get into York before 7pm ideally. It doesn't matter which station in Canterbury. The cheapest I've found so far is £154 altogether for the two of us. Can I do better than that?

Many thanks for you help :).

I would guess that that fare is advance singles each way using the National Express site - if so I doubt that you will better it (other than by time travel booking a month ago:D ...).

If not then try that site http://www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com/

Have you tried cheap singles? If you can get them better than any split.

For a split try York and/or Newcastle. Or even Leeds, though it's a bit off route. No guarantees, but those are the places I would try

Hmm, construct a time machine, I knew I'd forgotten to do something!

Thanks for your reply Dzug, that's what I thought actually, but I wanted to check. I guess I'll just have to dig deep into my pocket!
