Cheltenham - Exeter - split ticket at Bristol Parkway
Cheltenham - Taunton - split ticket at Bristol Temple Meads
Cheltenham - Plymouth - split tickets at Bristol Temple Meads and at Totness
Savings appear to be best when you buy returns. Remember if you are buying on-line to collect your tickets from the station that you need to ensure that you have entered the correct station from which to pick up the tickets!0 -

Not true. You can collect tickets from any station that has a pre-booked ticket collection machine. The reason you are asked to select a station when booking is to ensure you're not hoping to collect from somewhere that doesn't have this facility.
I often select Hereford (my home town) and end up picking the tickets up at Crewe if I find myself there with time to kill.
NB You MUST however collect your tickets BEFORE you commence your journey, not part way through it!I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Just to update to this mornings journey to London in 2017
All prices are with a 30% off Senior Railcard
Bristol to London Paddington is £25.40 single before 10:30am
£18:80 single after 10:40am
Return from London to Bristol, is £67:30 before 18:30
or £29.50 after 17:00
Paddington to Bristol is £29:50 after 18:45
So return fare is either £92:70 or £48:30
Booking to Paddington via Didcot Parkway (with no time restrictions on 'Peak Hour' Trains) between Paddington and Didcot
£15:85 to Didcot Parkway Return (leaving Bristol after 9:30am)
£16:95 to Didcot to Paddington Return
Total cost £32:80
Leaving Bristol before 09:30 the fare to Didcot jumps to £30:15 Return
Which is just cheaper than booking Bristol to Paddington Direct after 10:00
One thing to remember is that only every other train stops at Didcot, you do not have to get off the train, just the train MUST have STOPPED at the Station, to let passenger on and off.0
