I've split Liv-Eus at peak times for years, usually at Stafford. Def saves a fair bit. (Around £30+)
Like others have said, it's harder now there are fewer stops en route but always worth a try IMO.0 -
This one's a bit fiddly but:
(all off peak return)
Birmingham International-Bournemouth: £91.50
Birmingham International - Leamington Spa £7
Leamington Spa-Banbury £7.80
Banbury-Reading £11.70
Reading-Southampton Central £18
Southampton Central - Bournemouth £13.50
Total: £580 -
I need to travel from either Manchester or Crewe to Taunton on Friday 8th November (2 adults) returning Monday 11th November.
I don't mind what time.
Anyone have any idea where I should look at splitting my journey?£100 - £10,0000 -

Annual season ticket Earley - Chertsey £2612
Splitting at Sunningdale (even cheaper splitting at Longcross but few trains stop there) makes it about 10% cheaper.
Took me 10 minutes in my lunch hour working out the different pricing options on a spreadsheetMortgage May 2012 - £129k
January 2015 - Mortgage down to £114k
Target for 2015 to get down to £105k0 -
On South West Trains, for peak time trips to London, it seems to be worth splitting at Farnborough, though of course that gives less choice of trains as it must stop there.
This saves £20 to £25 on a day return from Winchester or Southampton, £30 from Bournemouth, £20 from Andover or Salisbury, and is only about £7 or £10 more than off-peak.
This might be worth trying on other lines.
edit: from Salisbury also split at Grateley, saves about £4 more.0 -
Banbury to Andover, single weekend with network card.
Any better splits than splitting at Reading? (Saves a couple quid)0 -
Single ticket for 2 people = £154.00 with one change at York
Booked separately (Birmingham - York, then York - Scarborough) = £66.00
So glad I faffed around trying to get a better price! We could easily travel from most place in the West Mids (inc. Wolves, Coventry etc.) but this one worked out the cheapest to get us to Scarborough!0
