  • Hi all,I'm new to this site and hope im in the right area.
    Im looking for a good train journry split to get me from Edin to Bristol .
    My partner lives in Bristol and its costing me a fortune in petrol to drive to the Lake District to meet half way.
    I can get good train deal to Oxenholme (in Lake area)but cant find a good route split for him to do from Bristol to meet me there.:confused:
    Id be grateful of any words of wisdom, except ""get a partner who lives nearer." lol.
    cheers

    Try this;
    Bristol Temple Meads to Crewe via Newport (South Wales) Advance Ticket £15
    Crewe to Oxenholme Advance Ticket £8.50

    Total £23.50 :j

    Advance Tickets so always book a couple of weeks in advance

  • help I'm rubbish at doing this.

    Trying to get from Cheltenham to Manchester or Wigan on 5th Nov and then back from Wigan to Cheltenham on Sat 8th (looked at Fri 7th but all fares hideous)
    Any ideas re fare splitting please.

    Will be very grateful.

    How do I post a new question without going on this answer thing??

    Have you looked at cheap singles rather than just the return fare? There seems to be reasonable availability (Manchester) on both 5th and 8th ie a smattering of £11.50 fares on some trains.

    Failing that try splitting at Birmingham or Wolverhampton. You won't better £11.50 though.

    And to post a new question go back to the list of topics (ie you just see a list, not individual messages) and hit the 'new thread' button

    I am looking to travel to Bristol from Manchester and was wondering what the cheapest way of doing it is? Would be going for a weekend towards the end of november/early december.
    Is there any good splits for this route.

  • If you book early you can get;
    Bristol Temple Meads to Manchester Piccadilly £15 Advance Ticket or you can try
    Bristol Temple Meads to Manchester Piccadilly via Newport (South Wales) £15 Advance Ticket

    If none of them left then Split ticket via Newport (South Wales) 2 tickets and a change of train required;
    Bristol Temple Meads to Newport (South wales) £3 Advance Ticket
    Newport (South Wales) to Manchester Piccadilly £16 Advance Ticket

    The other possibility is Bristol - Cheltenham - Birmingham and/or Wolverhampton
  • Salisbury to London return going in a morning before off Peak kicks in.
    Oh dear I cannot use my Senior Citizen railcard so its £57.40.
    But buy a return to Peterborough (via London) I can use my card and its £39.85. Having a 'Senior moment' I just forget to do the London to Peterborough leg of the journey.
    £17.55 in pocket
