I went back to the Carphone Warehouse to ask for my Taste Card today. The young man said he was way over on his sales figures for the Taste promotion so he gave me 6. So all my family and I will be able to have one.0

OH sod. Bought one of these for my elderly mum who rarely uses her mobile phone bought for "emergencies", and it appears that I should have ported her number last night when ordering. She stresses about getting top ups and charges for calls on her mobile so I got her this on the basis that a) she only uses about 10 minutes per month and does not text (she says she will "learn" but I doubt this. I was thinking that even if she came late and keen to mobile phone usage she wouldn't rack up much for 8p a minute) I told her that she doesn't have to worry about getting top ups in future as "it is all sorted". A key thing tho is not changing her number (i realise that given she has only had 2 £10 top ups in 3 years this deal isn't particularly good value, the call spend is not important - I wanted her to feel more comfortable about using it and carrying it - if anything, I'd like the usage to go up so she is in contact regularly (I am sure others with elderly parents will understand).
That said, it came within 24 hours, and has tracked in topcashback at an alarming £50.50, and with a tastecard voucher. I will apply for the tastecard for my mum, but might end up cancelling the contract due to not being able to port the number in retrospect, or I will keep it on and use it for "time recorded chats by mobile !" I still think it is good value if you don't go over the limit, especially given cashback - i was expecting a tenner at most ? sal xxxx0

I understand, but "fleeced" is a pretty strong word to apply to a £1 per month deal.
Oxford Dictionary definition :- "obtain a great deal of money from (someone), typically by overcharging or swindling them:"
Hardly applies to losing 24 days from a £1 monthly contract.0

I said '...I feel I was fleeced..' surely thats subjective.
You may not feel fleeced as £1 is not a great deal of money to you.0

CPW have confirmed this morning that the tariff table on the site for the SIMple£1 tariff is wrong, and they will be amending it ASAP.
MSE BeccaIt is still the case that at the moment, Carphone Warehouse have not updated their website, and the tariff information for the £1 SIM still claims 4p texts and 8p calls. If this is not true, and they have had the error pointed out, then surely have a duty to correct this information.0

I can vouch for TalkMobile, i have a contract Desire S with them.
They use Vodafone's network and have been very reliable. 0 0

i've taken a screen shot of the screen which gives the cheaper prices for the calls and texts. Are there any legally minded people on here who can say whether they have to honour this? I know it's a good deal anyway but it really annoys me when websites get their facts wrong (well if it disadvantages us but not if it's the other way round!!!).:D0

Well, maybe there could be some doubt about the first month/part month, but it is a monthly contract, not a 24-month one, so they have every right to make whatever changes they like in any month and you are free to reject that and cancel or accept the change.
So, from now, yours is the choice.0

Thanks MorrisonsEmployee, I have ordered it and should get it tomorrow. I also did the quidco trick, works like a charm...
Striving to improve my credit rating...0
