Talk Mobile - £1 Per Month Sim Only Deal!!

If you go online to the carphone warehouse site and purchase the Sim and then look at the Sim in your basket there is a bit underneath it that says 'keep your current number' and you can click on 'open' next to it and enter your PAC code (you need to get this from your existing supplier).
Haven't tried this myself, but looks promising.0

Can anybody confirm either of these points? I'd like to keep my existing number. But I'm seriously considering ditching the number for this price. The credit check doesn't bother me too much but it'd be good to know exactly what they'll be doing
Will test the topcashback site with this later
I got one of these £1 a month sim cards yesterday. I went to my local Carphone Warehouse to get it. I was able to keep my existing number; to do this you must get your PAC (porting authorisation code) from your current network provider. This has to be given when singing up; they cannot change your number at a later date. They told me that it would take 24 hours for my number to be transferred across and I have tried and tested it today, I have been able to send/receive texts and phone calls to my existing number on my new Talkmobile sim card. They also did do a credit check.0

Please can anyone confirm whether it's possible to port your old phone number if you do this deal?
Yes - but you have to do it at point of sale. I just ordered one, was told I couldnt do it; then I checked the website, which says you can do it, so phoned back, and was able to transfer it, as my order hadn't yet been processed. You will need your PAC code from your current mobile provider.0

Sorry for causing confusion- you **CAN** keep your number, as long as you do it when you order the SIM - it can't be done later. The first person I spoke to at Carphonewarehouse gave me the wrong information, but I think checked the website and this forum; and when I called back, I was able to keep my number, as they hadn't yet processed the order - I just had to give my PAC code, which I got from my exisiting mobile provider just by calling them - they sent it back to me immediately in a text.
To set up the direct debit (of one pound per month) i had to give my account details, and then they debit and re-credit one pence (1p) to check it. I've no idea what kind of check this is, but presumably if you have other direct debits on your account, then it should all work fine.0

Glad i posted this now seeing as so many people seem to be getting one:) Excellent out of bundle charges too at 8p a minute and 4p a text - Should give GiffGaff a run for their money and hopefully other network providers will follow suit with low cost monthly sim deals:T:dance:Quidco Payments In 2011 - £724.21

            Hi all,
My first post in this great forum. I have been a big follower of MSE forums. Thanks guys for doing a fantastic job.
May I ask you guys one question please. Now my company pays for my phone bills.
However I was wondering if I should take this £1 SIM contract to boost my credit rating?
 Thanks.0

Any contract that is managed well and paid on time will certainly help your credit rating - You would probably need the sim for at least 12 months if it was to have any lasting affect on your credit rating though tbh!:dance:Quidco Payments In 2011 - £724.21

MSE update 5.15pm Wed 10 Aug: Carphone Warehouse originally told MSE that calls and texts outside of the allowance would be charged at 8p/min and 4p/text respectively. Unfortunately it has now confirmed that you will be billed 30p/min and 14p/text if you exceed your allowance on this tariff.

The MSE team can read, we're very careful about the research we do. We had confirmation from the Carphone Warehouse press office in writing that "[FONT="]The standard out of bundle call charge is 8p per min and texts are 4p each".
We are re-checking this and will let you know.

Just arranged to go onto the £1 per month 30 day rolling contract.
This contract gives 25 mins anytime, any network calls and 50 texts.
If you go over that allowance then phone calls will be charged at 31p per minute and texts will be 12p each.
I did this over the phone (0870-087-0870). They needed to do a credit check because its a contract and I wanted to keep my same mobile number so I needed to get a PAC number from my current mobile network.
SIM should arrive tomorrow by courier.
Fingers crossed that everything will go smoothly.
I don't live anywhere near a CPW. Can you confirm that you were able to do the whole thing without going in to a shop? Do you have to pay extra for delivery?
 Thanks0
