Me too. I hate phone shops with a passion but actually came away thinking oh they are ok I could go back etc etc. Now I feel I was fleeced after all. Thank goodness it was only £1 I bet it's like that on all their contracts and nobody gets told.

But you can still use your minutes and texts over the next 5 days !

£1 contract and you are being fleeced! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

O dear, why is Martin promoting an 0870 number in his article? Call this one instead:
    0800 7817975

No need to visit a store, you can do it all on the phone and they will deliver the SIM to your house the next day.

P.S. Ypaymore is correct and the MSE article is wrong about the call charges.
MSE Has taken the figures from the "Essential" rates: http://www.talkmobile.co.uk/pay_as_you_go_essential.html
But they should have used the SIMple tariffs (click on View All Call Charges at the bottom of this page):

    Or this one 08000490049

There probably was a good reason why the weekly email included the official number for the Carphone Warehouse but to avoid 0870 numbers see:

Please can anyone confirm whether it's possible to port your old phone number if you do this deal?

It is an utter disgrace that MSE are encouraging people to sign up to a contract giving out mis-leading information.

    Third paragraph is complete crap
    "
How much are extra calls & texts? If you go over your allowance, calls are a not hideous 8p/min and texts are 4p/message. May have to unlock your handset to use. You will need a credit check before taking out this contract, however it's a 30-day rolling contract, and you can cancel at anytime by giving 30 days' notice. "

    wrong wrong wrong

You are no better than banks selling dodgy PPI insurance!

  • BEWARE

    Out of contract calls are
    30p per minute not 8p a minute.

Yes, you can I did it, but you have to give them your PAC (porting authorisation code) when you sign up. It can not be done at a later date.
  • Just arranged to go onto the £1 per month 30 day rolling contract.

This contract gives 25 mins anytime, any network calls and 50 texts.

If you go over that allowance then phone calls will be charged at 31p per minute and texts will be 12p each.

I did this over the phone (0870-087-0870). They needed to do a credit check because its a contract and I wanted to keep my same mobile number so I needed to get a PAC number from my current mobile network.

SIM should arrive tomorrow by courier.

Fingers crossed that everything will go smoothly.
