I just went to my local Carphone Warehouse and got one of these £1 a month sim card. They did not mention anything about a Tasetcard to me, but it does say tastecard on the receipt they gave me. Do they send them out by post?

    Am I eligible?

This offer is available to everyone who bought a Pay monthly phone or any Pay as you go phone worth over £44.95 from us between 4 January and 31 October (inclusive).

So it looks like this is for buying phones only and not the SIM deal.

I also have tastecard on my receipt.

Another point for anyone wanting a £1 sim card their (Talkmobile) billing point is the 15th so I have only 1 week to use my first months allowance, I'll ring them later to complain.

I've just realised now he did tell me but not in an obvious way. He said the first bill may be £2 but I thought that was because they were billing in lieu and in advance :(

I was told that my first bill would cost more, but if I knew the billing point was the 15th I would have waited until next week and got one then.

Me too. I hate phone shops with a passion but actually came away thinking oh they are ok I could go back etc etc. Now I feel I was fleeced after all. Thank goodness it was only £1 I bet it's like that on all their contracts and nobody gets told.
  • Hi I got a tastecard a while back all I had to do was enter the 8 digit code at link below -

    tasteuk.co.uk/ssl/redeem

Find the card has saved me loads and has been well used, only thing is a lot of places dont accept it on a fri or sat.

    Hope that helps.

    Joe.

I got one today and I looked at the receipt and could not see anything about Taste Card so left the store. Now I have looked again and it does say Taste Card. Anyone think it is worth a trip back tommorow to ask for it?

IMO tastecards are worth having if free or say, less than £10 to buy - plenty of restaurants, not just london. You can see for yourself what you get by visiting the website. http://www.tastecard.co.uk/ For some chains you can get a better deal now by printing vouchers as they only allow 2 people to eat half price - (we are a family of 6) but plenty of places do cater for bigger groups. The Fri/Sat night exclusion also common. That said, we had a lovely meal for 6 recently for £30 it was embarassing. Although we have always had our card accepted it is with varying degrees of happiness (the chains tend not to care), and you must book ahead in some cases.

Personally, I think it is worth going back for (that is, if they are giving them out at the shop - i got mine via online)

The deal might not be as cost effective as first appears see

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3409265

As the follow on rate for sim only contracts is 30p a minute call and 14p a text .

http://www.talkmobile.co.uk/simple.html (Then click on view all call charge,s)

Not as stated by MSE here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/bargains-deals-discounts 8p a minute call and 4p text which is the payg rate.
