I don't live anywhere near a CPW. Can you confirm that you were able to do the whole thing without going in to a shop? Do you have to pay extra for delivery?

    Thanks

You can order online and delivery is free.

MSE update 5.15pm Wed 10 Aug: Carphone Warehouse originally told MSE that calls and texts outside of the allowance would be charged at 8p/min and 4p/text respectively. Unfortunately it has now confirmed that you will be billed 30p/min and 14p/text if you exceed your allowance on this tariff.

    MSE Becca

It is still the case that at the moment, Carphone Warehouse have not updated their website, and the tariff information for the £1 SIM still claims 4p texts and 8p calls. If this is not true, and they have had the error pointed out, then surely have a duty to correct this information.

As I pointed out earlier this week on the Mobiles forum board, this tariff is designed to earn huge profits from the run on rates. If you go over by just SIX minutes in any month, your monthly bill is going to be higher than being on their standard 8p/min PAYG option with no "free" minutes - so unless you can be sure you'll use between 12 and 31 minutes every month, PAYG at 8p/min with no free minutes is likely to remain cheaper.

Maybe people should be taking screen grabs of the price plan so they can contest the charges have changed during their contract...

  • Hi
I have a poor credit rating and I'm trying to rebuild. I am looking for ways to help, do you think this would be worth a try?
I've recently been accepted for a cheap SIM only deal with O2 for my own phone so I wouldn't even be using this, but thought perhaps it would aid the regeneration process lol

If yes, I'd be happy to throw a quid away each month at this.

I ordered via the phone 0800 7817975 you are allowed up to 3 cards, I got 1 delivered next day. I then ordered online via Quidco and hope to get a £10 cash back per sim we shall see, if this works thats the bargain of the year and all free delivery.

Thanks for that. I'm not sure if I should order online 'though if I want to give a PAC and keep my number. Website seems to say that it's OK to migrate the number after I have the sim but other posts here suggest that you need to do it at the same time as ordering?

please ignore that - I've just seen the info about PAC codes on the website - enter the code online to transfer within 5 days, call them and give them a code to transfer within 2 days....

    Check the FAQ - http://www.talkmobile.co.uk/help/faqs.html

    it says
Once you have received your PAC, ensure that you provide this, together with your mobile number when you purchase your Talkmobile package from any Carphone Warehouse store, over the phone with our direct sales team, or online at Talkmobile.co.uk.
IMPORTANT: You must provide these details at the time of purchase otherwise we will be unable to port your number after the sale has completed.

Certainly worth a try although Talk Mobile use the Vodafone network and their credit checking process which from reports on other threads are very difficult to pass if you have a bad credit history.
