I think to be fair to the OP, his comments about single beds were made tongue-in-cheek.

i really do appreciate all your comments, and these have been discussed with my wife, and we take on board what has been suggested.
we have told them that there are a number of forums out there to help if necessary, but also let them know that we are *not* going to provide a dossier with hotel/taxi/restaurant numbers, with their itinerary mapped out to the nth degree - even if daughter is secretly hoping we are!
MSE forums need a 'so not giving thanks' button so i can press it on the comment about her coming back engaged; although she *is* 21, and if thats what they want to do, we are cool with it! (see, i am learning!)
