MSE News: Eon is latest to announce energy price rises
Comments

There is something not right if the SOL9 is supposed to be a post increase price as it is only 1% for electric and 2% for gas above pre-increase SOL8. I smell a rat, is it a price to suck people in then hit them with a massive increase ?
edit. Energyhelpline is showing SOL9 as 13% cheaper than SOL8 so there is def a rat somewhere.0 -
Hi All
Just had my increase too!!
However, the rise for the "first units" of gas and elec is very high - 23% for Elec and 46% for gas!!!!!! the main units cost 10% and 15% respectively. So your rise will be a higher % if you use less (live on your own/no kids on PCs the whole time etc). Our overall rise was 17% when I worked it out.
Save online 9 represents an 8% rise and is the best on comparison sites so we will probably stay with EON and move to that one.
Hope this helps, revivor
Has anyone had any success in finding Eon's standard rates published anywhere? I'm still awaiting a reply from them to my email of 9th August.0 -
I'm certainly confused by the saveonline7 (my product) versus the saveonline9 tariff.
In theory, at 6% below standard pricing, saveonline7 should be cheaper than saveonline9 (which is supposedly 2% below standard).
If the saveonline9 price is not going up (e.on rep's comment earlier on), then it is already cheaper than saveonline7, yet should be 4% more!!?
I'm clearly not understanding this and the e.on rep I spoke to couldn't really explain it either!
SAVEONLINE7 TARIFF:
The unitprices are shown as:
Electricity
Normal units up to 900 kWhs per year
24.213 pence
Normal units
12.1905 pence per kWh
Gas
Normal units up to 2680 kWhs per year
7.75005 pence
Normal units
3.37155 pence per kWh
SAVEONLINE9 TARIFF
Electricity
Normal units up to 900 kWhs per year
23.3835 pence
Normal units
10.6365 pence per kWh
Gas
Normal units up to 2680 kWhs per year
7.20195 pence
Normal units
3.129 pence per kWh
I'm very confused! Hope someone understands it and can explain.
Graham.
A previous answer from eon rep to one of my posts regarding SOL9 and SOL5 stated that the discounts on each tariff were the mininmum discounts. So SOL9 would be cheaper than SOL5 after the 13 sept price increase as no increase would be applied to SOL9. BUT that doesn't mean that if you swapped from SOL5(or another SOL tariff) to SOL9 a price rise on SOL9 could not be introduced after 13 September taking it to the minimum 2% discount on standard tariff in which case you would end up worse off than staying with SOL5 which has a minimum 6% discount on standard tariff.
I think SOL9 may be a trick to either give the inpression of a lower tariff or to get people to swap from older versions of SOL tariffs so eon can move people to a tariff with smaller minimum discount on standard tariff.0 -

Agreed eon are up to something with SOL9.0 -

Many thanks Monkeyspanner, that was my interpretation having read and compared the tariffs over and over.0 -
or its simply a discounted rate for the 12 months that you sign up for? If it goes up, then just jump to another product0

If you want to change tariff/supplier because of the price increase, you'll not be affected by the new rates or receive a cancellation fee.
You don't have to wait for a letter. As I said above, provided you let us know your intentions before 13 September 2011 and make sure your preferred supplier contacts us within 15 working days of you telling us you're leaving, all will be ok.
Just a quick heads up; please be aware, we don't give discount on final bills when changing supplier unless a contract has been completed.
Hi Malc/Helena,
I'm afraid your CS staff on the phone are still giving out the wrong info. They say that the increased prices will still take effect after 13th September, even if the new supplier contacts them within 15 working days. The CS even checked with her supervisor, so I said fine I'd have to complain via these forums instead.
Could you advise how I get the price's frozen on my account, an email address I (and others) can contact you on for instance? EDF have contacted EON within the time limit and EON have confirmed the switch is going ahead shortly.
Edit: Found this on your profile: WebForumAdvisors@eonenergy.com email on it's way shortly!Cider Country Solar PV generator: 3.7kWp Enfinity system on unshaded SE (-36deg azimuth) & 45deg roof0
