Just how bad can parents get?

Although once they're teenagers / bigger than you then trying to tell them that they really MUST wear more than a shirt and blazer to school when there's 6" of snow on the ground - well, you might as well save your breath to cool your porridge!I used to leave socks off the kids and coats off if it rained this time of year. Of course you wouldn't when it's snowing or minus 1 outside.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
A lot of venom directed at the OP on this thread. Unfortunately seems to be the way MSE is going these days.
The OP was merely stating her opinion on ONE incident for discussion.
For gawd's sake people, calm down - or are we only allowed to state the MSE 'official opinions' now? These appear to be:- Families - Good
- Men - Bad
- Immigrants - Very Bad
- Anyone with an opinion not as above - Very Very Bad :rotfl:

It is overdressing that looks more common in these parts... If your baby has light clothes on and goes to sleep you can cover them with a fleece blanket if the weather changes. If they've gone to sleep in a vest, trousers, t shirt and coat then most people here just leave them to cook!
Babies are more at risk from being too hot than too cold.
Equally when my youngest was tiny I used to keep the raincover on her carrycot that went with the buggy to stop random people putting their dirty hands on my baby... That kept her warm and yes a babygro and light blanket was enough. If you put your hand in through the opening in it it was toasty warm in there. I did get sick of being told off because my baby would 'catch her death of cold':mad:Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

it absolutely disgusts me when I hear a parent swearing at or infront of a young child. it makes me sick to my stomach. these people do not deserve to have children.0

while I agree that swearing infront of children isn't great I don't think it's the worst thing in the world.Bridesmaid83 wrote: »it absolutely disgusts me when I hear a parent swearing at or infront of a young child. it makes me sick to my stomach. these people do not deserve to have children.
One of my friends swears like a trooper, literally, she used to be in the army before she had kids. She adores her children, she's a brilliant mother but when she gets in full flow every other word begins with f
She doesn't swear AT the kids and has taught them not to swear in school etc, but its just the way she is. 0 -
