Hi everyone - I've lurked for a while but I'm coming out of the woodwork and making myself publicly accountable now!

I got a leaflet through my door advertising a new local branch of SW but I figured that weighing myself for £1 every week at the gym and getting motivation here for free would be a lot more MSE! :D

I need to lose at least 6 stone and the more I exercise, the more my weight seems to creep up :( so I'm pretty sure that my diet is in need of a major overhaul. I have a DH who insists that he loves me as I am, however I reckon that's just his excuse for sneaking crisps and biscuits into the weekly shop! And he barely has a spare ounce of fat on him

Anyway after having the MIL up to stay this week and taking her out and eating naughty things like fish & chips in Blackpool, it's time to knuckle down and focus. To motivate myself I've decided to impose a QVC ban until I lose the first stone! (Which is probably for the best, I love their maxi dresses)

My weigh day is Thursday and I use a machine at the gym which measures weight and height, and calculates BMI and body fat %, all for the princely sum of £1. However it seems to come up with a different height every time I use it - between last week's weigh-in and this week's, I've gained both 1 pound in weight and 1 cm in height - anyone else experienced this? :D

    :)

This is a similar story to my stepdaughter's, although hers was not baby weight. She has PCOS which is well known to cause weight gain. Anyway, she got to 20 stone and following the break-up of her 3rd marriage she sat and cried, wrote down all the reasons why she wanted to lose weight, what she thought would change when she did, got it all out of her system by writing it down. Next thing, a card through the door advertising SW. She joined. Not sure how long it took her, but certainly this spring/summer, she lost 7 1/2 stones and has made some good friends. The interesting thing about exercise is - although she lives a busy life she does no exercise at all unless you can count riding her motor-bike at weekends as exercise.

Congrats to you BB - I hope you both have a wonderful life together
  • Just checked my BMI and I am only 9lbs away from a BMI of 24.9 which is a normal weight range, I won't be overweight any more! Feel ridiculously excited about this!
Then the really hard part starts, weight maintenance. I don't want to keep regaining and then losing the same 2 stones or more...which is my life story so far...

  • Hi Guys, remember me?

Sorry I haven't been on for so long. From the last date I signed on weighing 13st 9 in March - i'm back and have got back down to 13st 9!!:o

I've been on a bit of a roller coaster ride over the past 6 months regarding my eating and major lack of willpower to exercise!!!

Have a lot of catching up to do! I've really missed the motivation and laughs that I had with you guys and think I need to be here.

Fred, please can you add me back on the chart with my start weight above. (When is weigh day again??)

I have 4 weeks tomorrow until I go on a well needed holiday and I desperately want to shift them pesky 9lbs!!

    Will you help me? Pleeeeassseeee:D

Ok we need some ideas for the exercise and team challenges for October - do you want a rematch for a previous team challenge - if so which one?
