Thanks BB (not!!)
Now I'm REALLY $h!tting myself! Lol!! :rotfl:
Yeah, not that I am projecting any of my own anxieties...not:rotfl:
2 weeks, wowzers! Hope you've got everything sorted by now?! I am so worried that it'll be 2 weeks before the date and I'll realise I've forgotten something crucial!! haha! OH and I are still getting our heads round the whole idea of a wedding in general let alone all the fiddly bits that need sorting out!
I find the wedding board totally terrifying, lol. People getting so miserable and stressed over having the 'perfect day'. I have avoided this by keeping things simple. It will be perfect becasue I am marrying H2B and we have 35 guests, all utterly thrilled tht we are getting married.
I have glorious unmatching borrowed crockery, no favours/professional photographer/gaggle of bridesmaids/ evening do/hen night (I don't personally don't know anyone who really enjoyed theirs, just more stress and expense).
Friends bringing posies from their garden on the day to plonk in to old teapots on the tables as decs. My mum is making a small posy from her garden for me to carry.
Serving English afternoon tea for reception - friends making sandwiches and bite size pastries and cakes, so no cutlery needed.
We only got engaged 8 weeks ago (competely out of the blue:smileyhea) and everything has really fallen into place.
Totally get your 'gettting your head round the getting married' thing. We have had that too but have now come out the ther side and are really excited.
Make lists and eliminate everything that you just don't care about.
The simpler you make it, the happier you run up to the day will be and the more people will remmeber it I swear.I really hope i can manage to lose some weight before the big day. So scared of looking chubby in my dress....
Think I have found my perfect wedding dress. It's so lovely, but I dont feel good enough about myself to have something so beautiful and expensive!! Think I need to seriously sort out diet and exercise so I can feel like I'd deserve to wear it!..
It is worth remember that you will be glowing with happiness on the day and that is a look money can't buy. I have chosen a dress that skims me beautifully so I didn't need to worry about losing any more weight before the day thank goodness. But I know it is harder said than done to feel beautiful oneself. Let the dress do the work, with it's flattering shape.VfM4meplse wrote: »I hate to say this but...the fact is, skinny looks great in pics. Not so wonderful in real life, but you'll keep your photos forever. So if ultra-gorgeous is how you want to look on one day, I would go for it hell-for-leather. Try the Skinny B*tch way.
I feel far happier with the thought I will look like 'me' and the person my H2B fell in love with and is still in love with. He doesn't want a stranger walking down the aisle.
I like the idea of living for now, so looking longingly back at one 'perfect day' when I stressed and strained to look skinny for one day in my life seems such a potential negative outlook and living in the past. And then what happens - you constantly hold that picture up against yourself as punishment for 'getting fat' after your day. You will never stay that slim after if it was a miserable struggle to get there in the first place.
But then, I don't care enough to even have a professional photographer and am just relying on friend informal snaps. So we are all different.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

It took me about 3 weeks to break my carb addiction and temptation in the house would have been very hard to resist during this time. I just dont want now that the addictive cycle is broken, I have some 70% green and blacks in the fridge uneaten.
Understanding that eating carbs raises insulin which causes the body to crave carbs to bring the insulin levels down which once eaten causes the body to make more insulin - repeat
Yes, exactly, and this has been my problem all this long time. Even when I thought I was 'being careful' what I ate, I was still snacking on the wrong things - bananas, cereal bars! And those so-called 'diets' that say 'oh you can still have your chocolate as long as you include it in your calories' - well, no.
I agree with this. I am soooo grateful and appreciative that my OH is on my side, understands totally and supports me 100%. People think at our age it is sad that we're so far from nearest relatives - well, it can be an advantage. We do our own thing and no one has any reason to comment.
I don't see the argument that just because the rest of the family can eat anything and not put on an ounce, that they need sweets, biscuits, crisps etc left within easy reach. So long as they are getting good-quality meals, that should be enough. No one actually NEEDS those 'treat' items on a regular basis. But then, I'm a different generation and probably it has been easier for me to see it that way, because I grew up with good filling meals and no treats whatsoever, because they didn't exist! There wasn't this expectation of 'treats' all the time.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Hi
I know I need to lose a fair bit of weight. How have others managed when no-one else in the family needs to and still demand the same foodstuffs? I have 4 adult males to feed (always hungry and even after full meals, still snacking) and 2 females (my daughter is slim so has no worries with her weight). I am finding it impossible to motivate myself to start when I know the kitchen will still be full of biscuits, crisps, chocolate etc. for everyone else. It it's there, I will eat it I'm afraid. I did try not to buy it all once before but got a load of irate family saying they should not have to go without just because I don't want it! Any suggestions please? Thanks
They can't possibly be hungry after full meals. They don't need to snack if they have had a good meal. It's all in the head. They only 'think' they're hungry.
Eating properly at a table in a social setting means you eat more slowly and the stomach has the chance to get the 'full' message. Eating while being distracted e.g. watching TV is one of the things that inhibits the stomach getting the 'full' message.
I have a GD who can eat for England - she does an active job, is always running for buses and walking her little dog, an energetic Staffie terrier, and she never puts on an ounce. We've had pleasure in taking her out and buying her a good lunch. But I've never seen her demand 'snacks' following a good filling meal. My step-GDs are also very slim, and they and their mother don't put on an ounce, but they don't eat snacks either.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Thanks BB you have calmed me down a bit. I know OH loves me who I am now but I was thinner when we met and I'd like to look like I used to when I was younger and happier and more confident. I feel like the weight I am losing now is not part of me, just some alien fat clinging on! haha! I love the wedding board cos they are all freaking out about everything matching, fiddly favours etc, but we are much more relaxed and flexible. Yes we'll have a photographer, florist, etc. but at the end of the day we just wanna have a big party with our friends and it's really not going to spoil my day if my bridesmaids dresses and flowers don't match perfectly, things like that make me laugh!!
Love the idea of garden flowers in tea pots, so cute!
Off for a game of squash with OH now, wonder if he'll let me win? no chance! hahaBetty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....

Hopefully then, the wedding will give you the push you need to find a way to get the weight you want to be and stay at it. Yeah, I'd be happy to be how I looked when I was younger too...20 years younger. Alas, no such miracle possible:D
I've declared this last 2 weeks a 'nice food' free zone, lol, so believe me, I do feel it a bit too: just want to ease off the few extra pounds I seem to have welcome in these last few weeks thgouh poor food choices.
Re the green smoothie - I won't give you my current recipe because I have gradually added less and less fruit as my taste buds adapted, but I think it may be a bit hard core for beginners.
The important thing is to eat raw green leaves every day (spinach, chard, cabbage, spring greens etc) blended with fruit of choice.
I would highly recommened Victoria Boutenko website (I have absolutely no connection with her what so ever) as she explains more fully the importance of raw greens. She has numerous recipes and online demonstraations.
When I have the green smoothies regularly (
a pint a day) I definitely get loads of people telling me how well I look and I can see how designed we are as humans to eat a lot more raw green veg my the impressive healthy effect on my bowelsI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Ok so weighed myself yesterday, and over the course of the last 2 weeks since I came back from holiday, I've gained 3.8lbs, which makes me 125.7lbs. Not too bothered by this and I already know the reason why (lack of exercise and too much food). I'm starting exercise again tomorrow and also set to be back on track nutrition wise tomorrow aswell. My will power has increased so I know I'm not gonna be tempted by unhealthy stuff. Cutting out all the rubbish carbs again e.g. white rice, cakes, biscuits, crisps, chips/potatoes & just unnecessary stuff like donuts etc. Don't think will crave them much and usually by the end of the second week don't even think about them so it's all good.
I'm actually thrilled and actually miss doing the workouts! I'm aiming to get to about 110lbs without trying too hard though, as I'm mostly focused on my body now rather than the scales. Wont be posting much though.
All the best to everyone x0 -

Been to a BBQ with friends from work and old friends that I used to work with. Met my friend J who was spookily following the identical path to me, he has been losing weight, he had the same start weigh as me within 1lb, he has lost the same weight as me within 1lb. J has been following a low carb diet and I have been doing pure calorie counting and the only difference is he has done it in 6 months and I have done it in 3 - 4 months.
The time difference isn't important, the point I am making is both ways worked.

Really annoyed with myself now, Have been really good all day. Went to a christening and had a bit of food, but didnt pile my plate up. Didnt touch any of the cakes that were on offer, but i have just sat here and have ate a rice crispies chocolate caramel square bar, a muller rice and a dairylea dunker.
Feel really guilty now and know i should have done it. Didnt even feel that hungry, only went into the kitchen to get a drink grrrrPAD Maker0 -
