Well I stayed up today after a 12 hour nite shift to get weighed at 10AM when all I wanted to do was go to bed, to be told I had gained +1lb.

Truly gutted as I had thought I had been pretty good, and worked hard at bootcamp. I also feel like I have lost weight.

As Eric says weight fluctuates throughout the day, so maybe because I'd been up all night....
Or am I just looking for excuses.:(

staying up does play havoc with your hormones which does cause short term water retention

never more true words "a good nights sleep"

  • Eric, I know you don't get on well with eggs - but I remember a couple of other people asking about low carb ice cream, and I found this recipe on another forum:

    ICE CREAM

    Ingredients:
    • 5 egg yolks
    • 3 tbsp vanilla extract
    • 2 tbsp Splenda*
    • ¼ cup water
    • 2 cup heavy cream
    Preparation:
Blend egg york, vanilla extract, Splenda and water at medium speed for about 30 seconds. Later place whipped cream into mixture and Freeze for 2 hours.

    Yield: Per Serving 3.2 carbs.

not so much a case of not getting on with them but more a case of anaphylactic shock - death :)

but the thought was nice

hard to tell with individuals if its carb craving or your body genuinely being hungry, i have to eat every 3-4 days to stop myself shutting down my metabolism

i went to the gym today - on my birthday! I beat my personal best by one minute on the cross trainer, a level higher than normal too! I also ran further than i ever have before :D I am sooooo pleased with my efforts!! I've met a new guy so perhaps lust and frustration have a lot to answer for in my results!! :p

Restricted my carb intake to just one (admittedly, large-ish!) pumpkin seed roll on Thursday, and one similar sized super-grainy roll yesterday, both eaten in the morning, and plenty of exercise on both evenings. Walked a total of c9 miles today, then caved in and bought a Kingsmill really seeded loaf (800g) this evening. The sad thing is, I didn't even fancy it until I started to eat it! But eat it I did, 3 slices in total.

Vfm are you aware Warburtons produce a half loaf with full size seeded slices? V. nice actually. So no problems about the bread going off if you don't eat too much.
Thanks for this....feel a bit more in control now and have decided to give the rest of the loaf away and leave complex carbs alone until Thursday now. The craving has lessened and I feel a load better, certainly lighter!

At times like that you just need to get out of the house! Go for a long walk, preferably in a peaceful setting and leave your money at home! Promise yourself a nice big cup of tea (or whatever floats your boat) as a treat when you get home.

Agree with this, but find that strenuous activity regulates my blood sugar so can afford to eat a small dose daily. The rest is fruit and vegetable soup / curry.

Think I have found my perfect wedding dress. It's so lovely, but I dont feel good enough about myself to have something so beautiful and expensive!! Think I need to seriously sort out diet and exercise so I can feel like I'd deserve to wear it!..

The dress should be a good motivator.

I hate to say this but...the fact is, skinny looks great in pics. Not so wonderful in real life, but you'll keep your photos forever. So if ultra-gorgeous is how you want to look on one day, I would go for it hell-for-leather. Try the Skinny B*tch way.
