    Hi
I know I need to lose a fair bit of weight. How have others managed when no-one else in the family needs to and still demand the same
foodstuffs? I have 4 adult males to feed (always hungry and even after full meals, still snacking) and 2 females (my daughter is slim so has no
worries with her weight). I am finding it impossible to motivate myself to start when I know the kitchen will still be full of biscuits, crisps, chocolate etc. for
everyone else. It it's there, I will eat it I'm afraid. I did try not to buy it all once before but got a load of irate family saying they should not have to
go without just because I don't want it! Any suggestions please? Thanks

They don't have to go without - but do they have to keep it in the kitchen? Explain to them that if they want it they can buy it themselves and keep it somewhere else - ie bedroom, work drawers etc anywhere that you don't have to see it or buy it.

They should be supporting you, not sabotaging your efforts.

My office always has cakes and biscuits around. I'm always offered and for the last 7 months or so have turned them down - and you always get someone saying "but it's only small", or "I don't want to take any home". However I've pointed out to them "Do you know how longer I will have to exercise to work that off". This month they've decided not to buy any cakes or biscuits into the office as they want to lose weight too - several have gone to the canteen to buy chocolate etc but so far I've not succumbed - and I feel quite smug sometimes because my will power has got stronger.

This is going to make life very difficult, it certainly would for me.

It took me about 3 weeks to break my carb addiction and temptation in the house would have been very hard to resist during this time. I just dont want now that the addictive cycle is broken, I have some 70% green and blacks in the fridge uneaten.

Understanding that eating carbs raises insulin which causes the body to crave carbs to bring the insulin levels down which once eaten causes the body to make more insulin - repeat

That's no excuse! How hard is it to find your own way home? Take a local A-Z if necesssary, or print out from google maps. If an area looks dodgy, then avoid it...but realistically, the earlier in the morning you set off (once it is light), the safer you will be.

Hope is not a strategy :D...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!
  • Morning everyone, not posted this week as had a really hectic and stressed week at work.

I Am pleased to say I have reached my target, this morning weighing in at my fighting weight of 10st2.5lb I think this is largely down to the 12 hour cycle I did last week, where i have lost 4lb as a result.

I am now just hoping i will keep it off as if I have to ride 12 hours every week to do so it is just not practical!

I will keep you posted on if I can maintain this and hope that you guys can offer some help in how I do it!

Thanks for all of your support thus far.

Well done! Is a 90-minute cycle after work Mon-Thurs possible, plus 2x 3hr early morning bike rides on a Saturday and Sunday?

Think I have found my perfect wedding dress. It's so lovely, but I dont feel good enough about myself to have something so beautiful and expensive!! Think I need to seriously sort out diet and exercise so I can feel like I'd deserve to wear it!..

BB of course you deserve it!! Just because we are overweight does not mean we don't deserve or cannot look stunning on our wedding days.

Saying that 30 years ago I borrowed my wedding dress from a friend and basically starved my into it (not recommended :o) The weight returned very quickly afterwards. I have lovely pictures of a very skinny 'me' in a white dress but I am sure the memories would be just as good with a slightly larger me in them.

I also refused to wear my glasses because I had a stereotypical view of how a bride should look. So spent the day not really being able to see :rotfl:My only excuse is that I was very young and didn't know any better.

    Well done Trigirl :T:T:T

Agree, but if you are worried about your safety take along an alarm - or better still sign up for some self defence classes. Women shouldn't have to feel scared to walk outside our own homes.

Totally agree with this - it is so hard when there are goodies in 'view.' I also know that I used to buy things 'for the family' that were really for me. Just stop buying it - it sounds like they are all adults, so if they really do want it they can buy their own. Not only will it help you, but you will probably find that they eat healthier too.

I seem to have got into the swing of healthier eating - but have lost all of my motivation to excercise - and have done nothing much really all week.

My only excuse is that I am up to my eyes in DD wedding preparation and life in general is 'getting in the way'

Not really an excuse I know - need to get off the computer and go do something ...
