    HI Vicky,

Welcome! 9 months is a very good time and of course you can do it. May I ask how much you are looking to loose? Joining slimming world and weight watchers is great and good for motivation. x

Hi Anna, well my ideal weight would be if I lost about 6 stone!! So any weight loss really would be good enough for me. I'm terrible at saying I'm going on a diet and then after a few days, I'll go back to my normal ways, I've got awful willpower. :o I think if I joined Slimming World I'd have the motivation I need, and of course MSE forums :)

The exercise spreadsheet is fab! :T Just logged in today's biking. :)

Welcome to the thread Vicky! :j

ALJA - Yes, you can join any of them. :) They're great for motivation!
Fredsnail organises them all and looks after the charts so just let her know which you want to do. You don't need to post a weight for the 5 lb challenge, you only need a start weight if you join the team challenges (you can PM it to Fred if you want to join it at any point).

Welcome to all the 'Newbies'. You have come to the right place. I have only started recently myself, but I am finding this forum very supportive, educational and the challenges keeps me motivated.

ALJA - Fredsnail keeps track of the challenges for everyone. I am sure she will be along to explain, but I think you just need to PM her your starting weight and let her know what challenges you want to take part in.

Vicky, I have been on both WW and SW in the past. Both worked well whilst I was attending the classes and did motivate me. I have not gone down that route again as I am trying to see this as a perminant change in how I eat and excercise. I would imagine that attending the classes would be better than online, but it really is about what fits in best with your lifestyle. Good luck.

Anna - never heard of the Body for Life Challenge, sorry. Please let us know about it if you do choose to buy the book.

    Welcome ALJA.

I've added you to the 5lb challenge, so you just need to post your result (either a loss, gain or STS (stay the same)) before Wednesday evening (usually around 10pm) before I start the charts.

If you want to join the exercise challenge just let me know if you want to join the Ben Nevis challenge or the 10 mins of different exercises or both, and post your results for me to log.

If you want to join in the team challenge (the siblings one for this month) you'll need to pm me your starting weight and which team you want to be in.

Of course you don't need to do any of the challenges - they're just there if you want to participate. In which case you just need to log your result.

    Hi Anna, welcome.

Your Journey sounds like mine which started in June and I am now down just shy of 2 stone.

The things which members of this community suggested that really helped me were:

Food and exercise logging on site, it has helped my OCD calorie counting no end, 1417 is a number I will never forget. Thanks to Jess444 for directing me there.

Exercise I have followed the I am now finishing week 7 of 9 and it has revolutionized my relationship with running, Thanks Eric for the original suggestion.

FredSnail of course for the multiple challenges, group competitions and the weekly tables and the group here for their motivational postings.

Finally not something I do, but do consider Eric the high priest of low carb and his advice on carb control and its contribution to weight loss.

    Occy

    Hi Occy

Thanks for those resources and the support, much appreciated. I totally believe in low carbs and how dramatic weight loss can be. The past year has been quite a struggle for me on all levels and I just thought I've been finding excuse after excuse to not do anything about my eating habits and lifestyle. Getting out of the rut has already made me feel good about myself

    Hi Vicky

You've got till May and I'm sure with dedication, you will definitely get there. The exercise and food has always been the easy thing, but it is the commitment which is always difficult. I think once you get to manage that you're gonna be on a winning steak.

I want to lose 3 stone by Christmas, so I've got nearly 4 months. I WILL make it!!!

    Hiya Jess

Search for Body for Life in google. It seems to follow the low carb hi intensity exercise formula. The results see amazing. I guess any plan is only as good as the person following it. I think I'm going to purchase it tomorrow, so I'll let you know how I get on.
