Eric - Loving reading about your quest to find low carb and low cal ice cream! :D

got some cream, milk and vanilla extract with seeds :)

a lot of that 6lbs will be fluid, you should shift the bulk of it in the first week
  • Hi Lolly, I agree with Eric, I don't know what mode of transport you travelled by, but during air flights our bodies retain fliud which is excreted within hours of landing.

I'm sure you will soon lose it again.

Thanks Eric and Frodo. :D I drove there... in a too hot car with two screaming kids, lol. Weighed myself again this morning and 1lb of it has gone. The chart (on the wii) is very depressing though - my weight slowly goes down until june, then hovers around that weight until July, when it starts shooting up again! I've gained 8 lbs since my last holiday in mid july . There is still a bit more that will come off from this one, but it's still very annoying, it is just so easy to put weight on, and so difficult to lose it.

I've still got lots of unpacking to do (never pack lightly, and completely filled my Citroen C3, even put some stuff in my friend's car, lol), so will spend the day washing clothes, unpacking, and tidying and cleaning the house. That should keep me on my feet all day, and will give me lots of opportunities to run up and down the stairs, which really gets my heart rate up! Will then try for a wii workout later if I can get the kids to bed early. Got a lot of weight to lose, and a lot of exercise to do for the challenge!

Speaking of the challenge - I'm finding the time/distance thing a bit samey each month so would like to try something different next month if that's ok with everyone, and if we can think of something suitable for us all? Off the top of my head, I've got...

Lifting weights - aim to lift a certain amount of weight doing reps (with anything we want - weights, bottles, baked bean cans!), we could have set milestones such as the weight of a horse, car, elephant, plane, boat, etc to give us goals to aim for.

'Try something new' - a lot of us do the same kind of exercises every time, so we could aim to try a different exercise each day (or each time we exercise). There's all of the usual things like walking, biking, crosstraining, dancing, different wii games and DVDs, then there's different exercise moves like squats, push ups, even star jumps!
We could say that we need to do at least 10 mins of each one to count and can see how many different things we can do in the month - which will make us get a bit more creative with our exercise routines, and will work out different areas

Will give it a bit more thought later, what does everyone else think?

    Hello all

I know it's not weigh-in day here, but I can't resist. It's 5 weeks today since I started the Dukan Diet, and I hoped that by this 'landmark' I'd get back down to 11 stone, or into the 60s rather than the 70s (kgs). Well, I made it. I now weigh 69.9 kg or 11 stones exactly, that's 2.4 kg lost or 5 lb 4 1/2 ozs as near as I can get the conversion to work.

I have another 9.9 kg to lose by mid-October and I don't see why I shouldn't achieve this.

I don't think I'd have got this far if I hadn't had wonderful support and encouragement from DH. A good man is hard to find - that's an old saying, and it's true. He's drastically cut down on the carbs himself and as a result he's giving himself much less insulin than he used to - result, he's losing weight too!

What Eric writes about fructose being processed differently, similar to alcohol, is very interesting. Maybe that explains why all fruits are banned in the first 2 phases of Dukan - even yogurt with fruit bits in! I'll look forward to being able to have 2 medium slices daily of wholemeal bread - I love my boiled egg with wholemeal toast for breakfast. And it also explains why I've had sooooo much difficulty in shifting the weight pre-Dukan. I've learned such a lot in recent weeks.

Morning y'all. Taking the birthday boy to the London O2 very soon to see Batman Live (won the tickets) :D

    Turbo fire:
    Fire 45 minutes
    Stretch 10 minutes

Wasn't feeling it after the workout so put in an Insanity DVD

    Pure cardio - 38 minutes
Now, that was more like it. It hit the spot :rotfl:

    Total: 1 hour 33 minutes :j

  • Hi all, not posted for a bit!

Can I log 1.30 hours running for Thursday
Had a rest day Friday as was on a very interesting first aid course, I can now save lives!
Yesterday did 1.30hrs cycling running combo

For the cyclists out there, try a 5km time trial at the end of your work, OMG it hurt yesterday!

I am expecting to gain or STS this week as I have one of my more epic challenges a 12 hour time trial next Sunday. Yu literally ride without stopping for 12 hours and see how far you get. The top guys get well over 300 miles. I will settle for a sedate 180 to 200. So in preparation I am eating more this week as I am going to have to call on every resource possible, I am slightly terrified. Have done a few half iron man races last year and ran the marathon this year but this is in a new league!

Thats a really good idea to start something new exercise wise. I have been doing star jumps, press ups and squats in boot camp and its amazing how much I've ached. Think I've exercised muscles I didn't know I had.

I like boot camp as its 6 in the morning before work. I do a physically demanding job, so after a days work, I have neither the energy or motivation to start working out.

I think I might try shorter periods of time doing different things, like zumba on the wii. Part of the reason I have got nowhere near finishing this months challange is that I was trying to do an hour, usually on the treadmill, at a time. As I work approx 50 hours a week and trying to fit exercise in isn't always achievable.

    Must try harder.:)

  • Hey all, just popping in to update my activity!

    Thurs 30 mins swimming

Frodo I like the idea of an early morning workout. I work in care so my early shifts start at 7 and I'm often shattered by the time I come home. I start at 9am tomorrow, so I may try and squeeze in a gym session.

I do struggle to get up in the mornings but that could just be laziness!

It's a great idea but I have no idea how I will record this as the DVDs I do, Insanity and TurboFire incorporate most of the moves (and more) that you've mentioned. I do press-ups, push-up jacks, suicide jumps, squats, jumping jacks, heismans, high kicks, mummy kicks etc etc etc :rotfl:Every DVD is different with different moves. Did high/low kicks in turbofire this morning, for instance :D

The Aerobics class I attend on Sundays also has various moves :)

I to struggle getting up early. But I have to get up at 6 for work, and it is just as torturous for me to get up at 5 as it is at 6.
