I am embarrased, teary and heartbroken to mention eldest got his results today, he did not pass, he tells me it is an overall result over the 2 years so let's hope for better next year:D

    Sorry Victory.
I think I mentioned that my son lost his conditional, & he has been unsuccessful in gaining a place in clearing.
Now there are no places in college's for anything he is interested in:eek: Unsure as what to do next.Eat more chocolate I guess.

Such a sad situation for you all :( If they don't want to wait a year, and want to avoid next year's fees increase, then maybe the Open University is an option? There are no grade requirements, and it is a lot cheaper than traditional Unis (my BSc will end up costing around £5k in total).

Its a famine response to protect your organs in the event of a lack of food, the body slows down your metabolism so you need less food but you feel tired as a result, it often leads to STS as well

its a difficult balancing act to eat enough to keep up exercise and weight loss but not to little so as to shut yourself down, made even harder the longer you are loosing weight for or as you get close to goal as the body wants to hang on to some body fat

of course there are lots of other reasons for feeling tired

Ahh, that doesn't sound like me. I don't restrict my cals too much as I regularly work out how many I need... If anything, I eat more than I should! :o

  • Just got home after weigh in and have lost another 2lb so total weight loss is 17lb.

Sorry beanielou and victory, I feel so sorry for these younger ones, it is so hard for them, either trying to get Uni places or jobs. Sending you both hugs.

Beanie and Victory: There are other ways. I did rubbish in my a-levels and did a HND which i topped up to a degree. A lot cheaper than a normal uni course.

Plus, to be honest if i did my time again i wouldn't have bothered with even doing that, it hasn't got me any further in life and i should have imagined i would be on a much better wage now if i hadn't had done those three extra years of studying. Still, i'm glad i did it! Your boys just need to remain positive, its not the end of the world!

Just had some of the Tesco's full fat greek youghurt for breakfast and imo it's not half as nice as Total... Total is more like whipped double cream and this is just plain yoghurt... So for me it's Total all the way... :p

PS. And it does not taste very different to Tesco's fat free version so no point going full fat there tbh...
  • Virtual hugs to all those disappointed with exam results. For what it's worth I took a year out after my a-levels before trying for uni. Bst thing I ever did, when I got out of uni I had more work experience and better contacts and got a job quicker than any of my brainer student friends.

I think if you take 1 to 3 years before uni it is the best possible thing you can do. You will appreciate it more and work harder. I know I did. Good luck, everything happens for a reason.

I only wish I knew that I wanted to do sports when I went to uni as I ended up doing media and though my main job now is in media, I play at teaching sports and think if only I knew then what I know now I could be coaching the gb team by now!

Anyway my degree doesn't help my day to day life, couldn't help me fix my treadmill. Belt broke as I was on for a PB 5k yesterday. Motor working but belt not going round annoying.....

Sounds like you had the Tesco standard one, I was talking about the Finest one yesterday. I used to get the standard one all the time - it is just like plain yogurt, and pretty boring!!! Before I tasted the Total and Finest ones, I thought that that was what all greek yogurts tasted like! :o Wouldn't bother buying it again now... I've seen the light!!! :rotfl:

Well I didn't get a workout done last night :(, a friend came round so had to put my plans on hold. I've got yesterday morning's 15 mins to add though, and DS1 is at his dad's again today so will have a bit of peace later to get on with it.
