Hey Everyone,
STS for me this week. Fred, I'll join all three challenges please. Plonk me in whichever team suits as I have no preference, and I will see how I do on the Paris one as I'm not sure what distance would be achievable yet. Planning on doing it on my bike, I had 20 mins on it last night and it wasn't too bad... although I was high on painkillers at the time, lol.
The diet isn't going too well at the moment, I'm really struggling for motivation. It's also assignment time again, so spending lots of time sat on my bum at the mo - which never helps things!

Any diet which excludes entire food groups (e.g. meat, carbohydrates etc) is a bad idea, at any age. Anyway, diets and counting calories make me think of food all day. Not helpful. As mentioned before, better follow a few simple rules, which have have helped me, too:
- Have a comprehensive breakfast with foods that take time to digest (e.g. egg, wholemeal bread, sausages, but eat fruit, too).
- If you get hungry during the day, eat! You can even eat some nuts or heavy stuff like cheese, but don’t eat them in the evening (they add pounds).
- When you eat, eat consciously! That means: sit down at a table and concentrate on the food. Don’t eat while watching television or while playing on a computer etc.
- Eat little in the afternoon, avoid eating at night.
- Avoid everything that is sweet, because sweet things make you hungry. The exclusion also covers artificial sweeteners (farmers use artificial sweeteners to fatten pigs).
- Avoid light carbo-hydrates (pizza, pasta, chips, ketchup) and avoid all snacks.
- No sweet drinks, either.
- Drink lots of water (that fills your stomach and slows down your digestion).
- Eat raw fruit and vegetables (raw food takes longer to digest).
- Less processed foods (e.g. whole meal sourdough bread) are preferable over more processed foods (e.g. white toast).
- Avoid all alcoholic beverages (they have many calories).
- Built exercise into your daily life: walk up the stairs instead of taking the lift, practise some press ups in front of the telly, ...
- Avoid busses and cars. Walk instead or go by bike.
You will feel great, not only because you will loose weight, but also because you will do more exercise and eat better. This will have a positive impact on intestinal flora, which will help against cravings.0 -
Thanks to everyone for the congrats:D
Fred if you could add me to the Gary Oldman team.
I must report a 2lbs gain:o
Im not too worried, felt I was losing too quick and I think my body is trying to re-balance itself.
Will try to lose 3lbs for next week. I'm expecting the loss to slow down a bit now anyway.
Good luck to everyone for next week.:T

Wooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh! :j I'm back in the game! lol. Just had a 1 hr 20 min Just Dance session, absolutely knackered now but it's soooooo good to be able to do it again.
I did land a bit funny when I was jumping around and hurt my foot, but it wasn't too bad, and was having so much fun that I just carried on anyway
(I'll just top myself up with painkillers later
, lol). I only take the painkillers at night (for the anti-inflammatory properties) as I figure that I'd do more damage by jumping about and not feeling the pain than I would if I can feel it, and therefore know if I'm 'doing too much'.
Don't think I'll be doing any cycling tonight but will have a good session tomorrow.0 -
STS for me this week please.

Evening,
I am reporting another STS This week Thank you Fred :A
A little disappointed but such if life.
finally managed to complete the Everest Challenge but still waiting for my hot chocolate
Can I log
218 sets of Home stairs
26 sets of Work stairs
Thank you
Can I join in the Paris challenge but I don't know about distance so can I just see where I end up, as I am suppose to be going on holiday soon so need to shift my bottom a little more :rotfl:
I agree with Occy - for the C25K challenge you will need to be able to run indoors, so will need a treadmill, or a large area that you can travel in. But it is worth doing and I'm so glad that I completed it last year. This Jan I restarted at week 5 and just completed week 7. But I like the way it slowly builds you up, so you build stamina as well.
There is a C25K forum on here which I found useful when I was doing it last year.
Well done everyone for making it through JanuaryI find it is always the toughest month as you start with good intentions, but 5 weeks seem to drag ............. I hope to do better in Feb

I did week one of c25k. I actually ventured into the streets but i can't say i liked it on a road. So now i am going to try it on the treadmill at the gym. I found week one quite easy, but i think its probably worth me repeating it because i only did it once!
I weighed myself today and i'm 9stone 5lbs! I'm impressed with myself, i know i can lose that 5lbs to make me 9 stone, even though i say this every year but my skinny boyfriend is making me look fatter! ha.
Best go, i have a really long day tomorrow which im really not looking forward to0 -
halfway to Paris? what was I thinking?! that's what you get for posting when you're half asleep :P
however I made a start by walking 4 miles yesterday so who knows, maybe I'll make it after all?
STS for me!
