  • Right, didnt walk halfway to work this morning, when i woke up it was gale force, so didnt walk, porridge for brekkie and grapes, lunch was so yummy, it was a ms at itsu, its my fave healthy food and free! mwahahaha! i had chargrilled chicken, brown rice and veg and sauce so delicious! just checked its only 394 calories! deffo visiting it is that good, £5 but a good £5 had 3 rice cakes covered in yogurt and half a vitamin water, done another MS at GBK, so had the classic burger, skinny fries and a diet coke.

I know it was bad in the end but, i was gonna have a treat day tomorrow and have dinner of fries, kiev and chicken strips, so just swapped the days around, will have soup and enchiladas tomorrow, as my pennance for having the burger, i walked for 25 mins on the way home from promo which i would normally never do, still taking the stairs, gonna do my sit ups now, as im watching that fat show on c4.

Also extra incentive, my cousin rang and said she can go to florida end of april, so i want to look good!

FRED - Sorry to be a pain, but my Everest flights aren't right. I'd done 104 yesterday. Adding another 66 today so my total is now 170

Thanks - corrected it for next week now :T

    Welcome back Minnie

Gra76 nice to see you back - I'm sorry to hear your news - but glad that you've only got 3 more chemo's to go. I hope everything works out ok for you - and of course 7lbs count - a loss is a loss. You know where we are :T

Feeling very sorry for myself. In agony with bad back and spent most of yesterday in bed scared to move. Up and about today as I don't won't to seize up. Doing some gentle back exercises but that's about it. :(

On the bright side the post Christmas carb cravings seem to be reducing and seem to be getting eating back under control (could just be that it is too painful to get to the biscuit tin :))

Gra76 - sorry to hear of your illness, hope all goes well with your treatment.

Hmmm day not so good so far, my plans got moved.. so instead of going out after lunch, i ended up going out before and over lunch.

So i've had chocolate and a small sausage roll to tide me over.
Must try and make sure of better planning!
On the plus side, whilst being out i've managed to get some 1kg training dumbells with handles and to wrist and ankle weights at 0.5kg each. The box is heavy enough so hopeuflly introducing them should help!

  • Gra76 - sorry to hear of your illness, but good thing you got yourself checked out! I hope that the treatment isn't too gruelling for you.
Jess - sorry to hear about your bad back, sounds very painful! I do hope that you feel better soon. Good to hear that the carb craving is subsiding. So far, so good for me today , boiled egg and a couple of dark ryvita, bowl of Covent Garden "Souper Greens" soup 10g carbs, and I intend to have a prawn stir-fry for dinner, veg only no rice or noodles, which should come in (according to the packet of stir fry veg) at around 10g carbs.
Does anyone understand net carbs and fibre? If so, could they explain it to me please?! Does it matter?
Lolly and Fred -Thanks for the welcome back! Didn't take me long to slip, did it?!

Yep, I read about it when doing Atkins. To work out 'net carbs' you check the carb content, then deduct any fibre content.
You deduct the fibre as it isn't digested in the small intestine so doesn't turn to glucose, and therefore doesn't affect your blood sugars. I started to do it a couple of weeks into the Atkins diet and found that I could eat more carbs than before, but it didn't affect my weight loss - which was nice! :D

On Atkins, every single gram matters as you are so restricted, and if you use 'net carbs' most veg, and a few other bits (can't remember offhand - it was a while ago!) are classed as 'carb free' - which really helps make the diet bearable, lol. If you aren't as restricted, say on 100g a day, then it won't really matter as the carbs it saves are negligable. HTH
  • Jess hope your back is better soon, back pain is one of the worst things, poor you, hugs.

Gra76 sorry about your news but so glad you got it checked out. Hope remaining chemo goes well.

Fredsnail I have done another 45 minutes bootcamp today (I know in the wind and the rain I need locking up lol!), but I know this doesn't count for this challange.
I had hoped to get on the treadmill but this hasn't happened. I also go swimming and again this doesn't count.
So can I start the stairs bit as I have been making a determined effort to always use the stairs in work unless I've got a patient or equipment with me.
My house stairs are 7 inches and theres 15 off them. Could you please work it out for me as I have no clue. I will measure works stairs when next in. Could be tonight as I'm on call til 8AM.
Many thanks Fredsnail, all your hard work is much appreciated.

  • Thanks Lolly, that's good to know. I normally aim for below 100g of carbs, but I am being as strict as possible at the moment, so every carb counts! Have managed to resist dipping into the half eaten packet of After Eights (guess who ate the other half?!) and I have stuck to low carb today, which is my first proper day of low carbing since Christmas!
  • Today did not improve.
I have snacked ALL day, sausage roll and chocolate at lunch, sugar free jelly and pringles as a late tea.
I did manage some chicken and plain brown bread as only proper source of food.
I'm not proud of what i have eaten today at all.
However i will try stay positive. Yes i had sausage roll, but thats better then Mcd's i nearly got whilst out and was starving ( due to bad planning)
Yes i had pringles, but i made sure to stop myself, instead of just eating and eating and finishing a whole tube to ones self.. which i could quite easily do! AND they were better then the chinese that i REALLY wanted to order!
I've still put all the bad things into food focus, and even though i have mostly eaten ALL crap ALL day, and no exercise today, i'm only 48 cals over the daily target cals to loose weight.
So i guess everything in moderation is right, even if your ONLY eating bad stuff
I do find i'm thinking more about what i eat ( honestly) so even if its bad, i try not to have too much, which is more then i did before!
Sorry if people think i post nonsense at times.. maybe i do, but i find talking it out helps, like being honest.. but to strangers. And i feel it holds me accountable.

Ok - I think we put down 3 miles equivalent for the bootcamp previously because I can walk 2 miles in 35-40 mins and bootcamp is harder. I'm happy to do that again.

Swimming can count distance wise too - if you do lengths you can times the length of the pool by the number of lengths and post the total.

Let me know how many bootcamps you've done so far this month - and if you can the swimming distances - and we can see how many times you can climb Everest during the month.

If you just want to do home stairs it will be 53.94 times a day from tomorrow until the end of the month.
