    Hi Fred,

I have decided to join in with the Everest Challenge if that's OK. My stairs are 7 inches high and I have 13 so if my calculations are right that is 91 inches.

Could you let me know how many flights I have to do to reach the summit and I will make a start tomorrow.

    Thanks,

    Jess

A total of 1493.8 flights or 53.35 times a day.

Yes 1359.36 to be exact (though please don't ask me to calculate how many extra stairs the .36 is :rotfl:).

If you prefer you can do the full 29,028 which would be 3483.36 climbs which is just over 112 climbs per day :p

Erm, I think I'll pass on that one Fred, lol ;). I'll edit my siggy to make it 1360 (so there's no cheating, lol!).

    Glad to be back.

Think I missed all the motivational comments, took a wrong turn and ended up starting from a worse place than in 2010!!
  • I have Just read Suggs story and am most inspired, i would like to join the 5lb challenge if i can, i would firstly like to lose 28lbs and then go from there, give myself an easy target and hopefully i can make it! really motivated and am going to walk halfway to work tomorrow will take about 35 minutes as i havent done it in ages, but aiming to get that down to 25 minutes over the next month, will time the first walk tomorrow and then log it here.

Had a nice meal of enchiladas, used less cheese than the receipe asked for and half of that was half fat mozerella instead of chedder, will have to get some more of it, i did only use 2 chicken breasts and packed it full of farmhouse veg and sweetcorn and some peppers, that will do for a few meals, soup in slow cooker for lunches with a wrap and have filled a bag with snacks to take to work, frubes, clementines, grapes, apples and nutrigrains, i'm gonna try to only have 2 snacks a day if i must, i snack alot at work it kills the boredom.

Also going to do another 60 sit ups, need my belly to go down, had to delete several pics over the holidays, due to my belly being the main feature :( i have lost weight before and felt and looked great, so i know i can do it again.

Well I've been hungry all day, and have probably eaten a lot more than I should have. I guess it'll take a few days to get back into things after the huge xmas portions.
I think I've been making up for it with exercise though and have been up and about all day, which has got to help.

I'll probably manage a bit more climbing later, but will add the 31 flights that I've done so far as I'll not be back on tonight.

Right, I'm off for a power plate session and a film :)
  • well managed 2 walks yesterday, but that only put my steps to 6500 out of the recommended 10 000, its quite scary to realise just how far that is, and how sedentary my life at home has become.
I didn't manage a walk today so instead i have done 20 minutes on the wii fit, checking out the games and exercises so i know what they are.
Again its made me realise just how unused to exercise my body now is as i found a lot of that hard work.
Taking each day at a time, and trying to get some form of exercise in somewhere.

No one should be upset if they've gained over Christmas - most of us eat more than normal and different food than normal.

But it's a treat - and we should remember that. January brings us back to normality - and the additional weight will come off once we start eating carefully and exercising more.
  • Just wanted to thank Jess and Lolly. I've decided to attempt the Everest challenge after reading your posts above. I thought i'd do them in blocks of 10, and they dont take long, however it soon got me breathless!
So 10 flights so far, but i'm feeling positive for tomorrow, and will definately need to up my water intake too.
Think in a weeks time i could add some small kilo weights too, but dont want to get too ahead of myself here!
