What do you eat instead margaretclare? Breakfast I am able to change toast for cereal or porridge, lunch for me is either a sandwich, soup with bread or egg and toast and then my evening snack is usually a piece of toast, but I would be able swap that for something else as well. It's the lunch I would have difficulty with.

I don't eat anything 'instead'. Yesterday we were on our way to Dover for a day trip to France, stopped at Maidstone services and I had 2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon. No toast. On the Dukan Diet, the stage I'm at, you're on protein only for one day then protein and vegetables the next. Today I had bacon and grilled tomato.
It was really difficult on that ferry, though. One of P&O's new ships, the 'Pride of Britain'. Unless we'd gone into the brasserie for a full meal, there was nothing I could eat on the 90-minute crossing there and back. Sandwiches, crisps, cakes, muffins...When I first started doing this, on one occasion we bought beef sandwiches at a motorway services and I ate the beef out of the sandwich but gave the bread to the local birds. If they'd had something like a yogurt I could have had that, but they didn't. Will have to re-think if we do it again. And the tea and coffee, in plastic containers, was undrinkable. At least at motorway services they give you coffee in a mug, which tastes much better.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Aww, Princess!
Well done for spotting the signs early on, I hope you can find the support you need.
Thanks hun. I know that I still have a bit to go, so I'm not at the maintance stage yet (not with regards to losing weight exactly, but just getting rid of the reluctant flabby bits). But I can't really get to that stage if I can't get my head around the idea of food and if I'm not intaking enough protein and even enough calories. Exercise is no problem for me, I always have motivation to exercise and exercise everyday, but intense exercise coupled with less than 1000 calories a day is always going to cause problems long term.
About 2 weeks ago I had a bit of a binge but only had 1500calories! I read about people having upto 2500calories and thought that there seriously must be something wrong with me especially as I should be having around 1500 calories in the first place! Felt so awful though about that binge that I decreased my daily calories to 800 for the rest of the week.
At the moment I'm trying the zigzagging effect. So having 1000 calories one day, 1250 calories the next, then 1000 then 1250. Hoping to increase it to 1250 altogether so hopefully I can do this and not feel bad or guilty.
Woo. It feels good to finally get that off my chest and be able to admit it. At times I'm just in so much denial, but I know I have a problem so hopefully I can fight it.0 -
Hi
Went to weigh this morning not really expecting a good result but I've lost 2lb so now down to 13st 3lbs.
Also done 2 hours walking towards the new challenge in the last two days, PO and back yesterday (1/2 hr), town and back this morning (1 hr) and DD2's school and back just now (1/2 hr). The dreaded phone call from Matron!
Hope everybody's had a good start to November!August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -
1lb loss for me today. Not bad I suppose - it's in the right direction. Feeling really rotten at the moment; cough, cold, snotty nose, sore throat etc. So my eating has pretty much gone out of the window.
Hope I feel better as I want to go to the gym!0 -
Hey all,
FS 0.75lb loss for me and add 1 hour to my journey.
Just bought new scales (not used yet) that also measures body fat %, will be using them them to determine my final goal weigh and to monitor my maintenance when I get there, I know BIA is not hugely accurate but I just need something as a finishing line.
Anyone have any experience of Body Fat% measurements and what is good level is?
Thanks

STS this week, but not surprised as went away to visit relatives at the weekend, who dished up pasta and shepherd's pie!
Regarding not eating bread, I take salads to work, with meat, fish, cheese, same sort of thing that you would have in a sandwich, but with salad, or now that it is cold, I take soup, have grated cheese with it but no bread. I do eat dark rye crispbreads sometimes.
I eat unsalted nuts as a snack and took some with me when we went on holiday, to avoid soggy sandwiches from the motorway service stations. Also mini peperami and mini baby bel cheeses are good for a light lunch, or snack.0 -
Princess - well done for recognising the signs, I am convinced that eating too much leading to obesity and eating too little (anorexia) are both the same eating disorder, but that they just manifest themselves at the two extremes of the eating scale. A healthy approach to food and eating is what we are all striving towards, myself included.0
